While our Shopify migration can transfer your customers’ key information, such as names, email addresses, billing, and shipping details, passwords cannot be transferred due to the platform’s encryption policies. As a result, all customer profiles will appear as “deactivated” on your store after the migration.
To re-engage your customers, you can manually send account activation emails through your Shopify admin. LitExtension does not automatically send these invitations; therefore, this step must be handled on your end.
The good news is, with Shopify’s updated login flow, your customers can now access their accounts more easily:
- If a customer already has a profile in your Shopify admin, they don’t need a password. They can log in using their email address and a one-time, 6-digit code sent to that email.
- If a customer enters an email that isn’t associated with a current profile, Shopify will automatically create a new profile for them.
- If a customer uses the Shop app, they can choose to log in via Shop or with a one-time code. Either method provides them with access to their account, and if they use Shop Pay, their checkout information will be automatically filled in for a faster, one-tap experience.
