Sports & Outdoors Store: From Shopify to WooCommerce
For an online football shirt retailer, every product review, ranking URL, and international buyer counts. This Shopify to WooCommerce migration project moved 2,000+ products, nearly 8,000 customers, and 6,000+ orders, while also bringing over Judge.me reviews, rebuilding SEO-critical URLs through 301 redirects, and adapting a multicurrency setup to WooCommerce. Here’s how our team made the switch without slowing down their live Shopify store.

About Our Client
Our client runs an online store dedicated to football shirts. Their catalog includes retro and classic designs alongside current-season kits from top clubs, national teams, and football legends, plus options for kids and babies. Shoppers can also personalize their shirts, and the brand draws on the blokecore trend, blending football nostalgia with streetwear style.
Because they sell to fans worldwide, international selling sits at the heart of the business. The store ships internationally and lets customers browse prices in multiple currencies. Strong social proof matters just as much, since shoppers rely heavily on product reviews when choosing a shirt.
When the client moved from Shopify to WooCommerce, they wanted more control over their store while keeping their reviews, search rankings, and international setup in place. With that many moving parts, they turned to LitExtension, trusting our experience to handle the technical side while their Shopify store kept running.
Our Client’s Requirements
The project centered on these key requests:
- Move products, customers, and orders from Shopify to WooCommerce.
- Bring published Judge.me product reviews over to WooCommerce, keeping each review linked to the right product.
- Run the migration in a WooCommerce staging environment while the Shopify store stayed live.
- Set up 301 redirects for Shopify product and collection URLs to protect existing links and SEO.
- Get expert help adapting their Shopify Markets and multicurrency setup to WooCommerce.
The Challenges
The core difficulty was that Shopify and WooCommerce organize key store data in fundamentally different ways. Shopify uses fixed /products and /collections paths, while WooCommerce defaults to /product/ and /product-category/, so every indexed URL needed a matching redirect. Reviews followed the same pattern: they lived in Judge.me, a third-party Shopify app, whereas WooCommerce has its own built-in reviews with star ratings.
International selling added another layer. Shopify Markets manages international pricing, languages, and market-specific domains from a single store. WooCommerce, by contrast, handles multiple currencies through additional tools, such as WooPayments’ multi-currency feature. All of this had to come together on a staging site without disrupting live Shopify sales.
Our Solution
Preparing the right environment came first. Our team configured the WooCommerce staging site so our migration connector could access it securely. This allowed the full transfer to run in the background while the client’s Shopify store continued taking orders as usual.
Once the environment was ready, we moved the core catalog and customer data to WooCommerce. We also handled the Judge.me Reviews Migration, bringing every published review into WooCommerce and attaching it to its corresponding product. As a result, each shirt page kept the customer feedback shoppers depend on.
SEO continuity was the next priority. Our team built 301 redirects covering the different Shopify URL structures, including both product and collection pages, and mapped each one to its new WooCommerce address. The client then tested sample redirect patterns themselves and confirmed that old links led straight to the right pages.
In parallel, our migration experts took on the Shopify Markets and Multicurrency Migration. Drawing on their technical expertise, they applied a tailored approach to align Shopify’s market-specific settings with WooCommerce’s currency and localization workflows, helping international shoppers keep a familiar buying experience.
