About Our Customer
For this migration project, we had a chance to work with a premier retailer of branded computers and other components. Specializing in cutting-edge technology and exceptional customer service, they have revolutionized how consumers and businesses access the latest computing hardware.
With long years of operation, they have gathered an enormous amount of data from products, orders, customers, etc. Thus, they require the highest level of data accuracy when upgrading from Magento 1 to Magento 2.
Our Client’s Requirements
- Clear current data on Target store before migration.
- Migrate categories and products SEO URLs.
- Create the 301 redirects on the Target store after migration.
- Preserve order IDs on Target store.
- Strip HTML from categories, product names, and descriptions.
- Update advanced product options/tier prices.
The Challenges
One of the significant challenges was the tight deadline, which required meticulous planning and swift execution. Additionally, the large size of their database presented significant difficulties in ensuring data integrity and minimizing downtime.
Despite these hurdles, our team successfully navigated the complexities to deliver a seamless migration. Read on to learn how we overcame these challenges and successfully transitioned.
Our Solution
To address the mentioned requirements and challenges, LitExtension performed the All-in-One Migration Service. This service involved assigning a dedicated Personal Assistant (PA) to collaborate with the client throughout the migration process. The PA took charge of executing the migration, providing regular updates on the project status every 24 hours, and promptly addressing any queries or concerns from the client.
The process started by gathering the client’s requirements and analyzing the current store situation. Examples of such tasks include examining custom fields, addressing server or hosting issues, and more. From then on, we were able to offer some suggestions to guarantee optimal preparation.
For the next step, we modified the database so that it matches between the Source and Target Cart. Throughout this phase, we conducted multiple trial migrations, rigorously testing and validating these entities to ensure seamless transferability. Regular updates on the results of these trial migrations were provided to the customer, who offered additional feedback as necessary.
Upon obtaining approval from the customer, LitExtension proceeded with the complete migration.
