How to Migrate from Wix to Shopify Using CSV Files with LitExtension

If you can export your Wix store data to CSV files, LitExtension Files Migration provides a straightforward way to move that data into Shopify without manually restructuring every file to match Shopify’s import format.

The process starts by exporting the available products, customers, and orders from Wix. You then upload those files to LitExtension, map the Wix fields to Shopify, check the data for errors, and run the migration.

Step 1. Export Your Wix Data and Connect Shopify

Wix stores different types of data separately, so export the records you want to migrate before creating the migration in LitExtension.

Export Wix products

• From your Wix Admin dashboard, go to the Products section.
• Select the products you want to export.
• Click More Actions and select Export.
• Download the exported CSV file.

Wix CSV export is available for physical products. Digital product files may need separate handling before they can be used on Shopify.

Export Wix customers

• Open your Contact List in the Wix Admin dashboard.
• Select the contacts you want to export.
• Click More Actions and choose Export contacts.
• Select the contacts and file format you want to export.
• Download the exported file.

Export Wix orders

• Go to the Orders section in your Wix Admin dashboard.
• Select the orders you want to export.
• Click Export.
• Choose the columns you want to include and download the CSV file.

Once the files are ready, sign in to the LitExtension app and create a New Migration. Select Files (CSV, Excel, Google Sheets) as the Source Cart Type and upload the Wix files you exported.

You can upload CSV, TSV, XLSX, or XLSM files, with up to 50 files and a maximum size of 50 MB per file. Keep products, customers, and orders in separate files where possible.

Review the detected Data Type for each file and correct it if necessary. If the same product or customer appears in multiple files, the record from the file listed first takes priority.

Make sure any image URLs in the exported data remain accessible. You can also provide the optional Old Store URL when relative image paths or supported redirects need the original Wix domain.

Select Shopify as the Target Cart Type and complete the connection instructions for your Shopify store. Then continue to Prepare Data.

Step 2. Map Wix Fields to Shopify and Check Your Data

In Field Mapping, review how the columns from your Wix exports are matched with Shopify fields. LitExtension automatically maps recognized fields, but you should check the sample records before proceeding.

For products, confirm the Product Identifier used to keep each product connected with the correct variants and images. Check names, SKUs, prices, inventory quantities, option values, and image references.

For customers, choose an appropriate ID, email, or phone column as the Customer Identifier. You can also deselect fields you do not want to migrate and retain additional columns as custom fields where supported.

If the Wix export uses unfamiliar or unclear column names, use AI Mapping Suggestions and review the suggested matches.

Click Next: Data Check to validate the entire dataset before anything is transferred to Shopify.

Review the results:

• Ready: Records eligible for migration, including records with warnings.
• Errors: Problems that prevent the affected records from being imported.
• Warnings: Issues that should be reviewed but do not block migration.
• Skipped / Duplicates: Records excluded because of errors or duplication.

If errors are found, download the Results File, correct the affected rows, replace the uploaded file, and click Check Again. Repeat Data Check whenever you change a file or field mapping.

When the data is ready, open Configuration. Select the supported records you want to migrate, choose the additional migration options you need, and review Order Status Mapping where available.

Step 3. Run a Demo and Complete the Wix to Shopify Migration

Start Free Demo Migration to transfer a small sample of your Wix data to Shopify. Once the demo finishes, open the migrated records in Shopify and compare them with the original Wix exports.

Check product names, prices, variants, images, inventory, customer details, order totals, statuses, and the relationships between records.

If anything is incorrect, return to your files or Field Mapping, make the necessary changes, run Check Again, and select Demo Again.

When the demo results are correct, click Next: Confirm Orders, review the migration price, complete payment, and start Full Migration.

You can track the transfer in My Migrations. LitExtension runs the migration on its servers, so you do not need to keep your browser open. After completion, review the migrated products, customers, orders, and other selected data in Shopify before launching your new store.

For stores with fewer than 2,000 entities, Demo Migration is skipped by default unless requested. When a demo is performed, we review the results and make any necessary adjustments before starting Full Migration.

Step 4. Full Migration

After the configuration is finalized, we transfer the selected Wix data to Shopify according to the agreed setup. Important data relationships, such as products and their collections, are maintained wherever supported.

Your Wix store remains live throughout the migration. The transfer runs in the cloud, so you do not need to put your source store into maintenance mode while the migration is in progress.

Step 5. Migration Results Testing

After Full Migration, our experts review the transferred data against the agreed migration scope.

We check products, customers, orders, and other migrated records, identify inconsistencies, and resolve migration-related issues before confirming the project results.

Step 6. Post-Migration Services

Your Wix store can continue receiving new orders, customers, and other updates while the initial migration is taking place. LitExtension provides post-migration services to help synchronize eligible changes with Shopify.

• Recent Data Migration: Migrate newly generated data representing less than 5% of the initial migration within 30 days after completion.
• Re-Migration: Run the migration again within 30 days after the original migration is completed.
• Smart Update: Update migrated data within 90 days after completion.

These options allow you to continue operating your Wix store while preparing Shopify for the final transition.

Step 7. Post-Migration Support

For 30 days after migration completion, our support team remains available to answer migration-related questions and help resolve issues associated with the transferred data.

This gives you time to review your Shopify store before fully transitioning away from Wix.

Prefer to Migrate from Wix to Shopify Manually?

For a small store, you can also export Wix data, restructure the files to match Shopify’s required format, and import supported records directly through Shopify Admin.

Unlike LitExtension Files Migration, this approach requires you to prepare the CSV structure yourself before import because Wix and Shopify use different data formats.

Step 1. Export Your Wix Data

Export the available products, customers, and orders from Wix using the same source files described earlier.

Step 2. Reformat the Files for Shopify

Adjust the exported columns and values to match Shopify’s required CSV structure. Review missing or inconsistent values, product variants, custom fields, and file encoding before importing.

Step 3. Import Supported Data into Shopify

• Open the relevant section in Shopify Admin, such as Products or Customers.
• Select the import option and upload the prepared CSV file.
• Preview the data before confirming the import.
• Review the imported records after Shopify finishes processing the file.

Order history requires additional handling because Shopify does not provide the same native CSV import workflow for orders. If restructuring files, mapping fields, and validating the results becomes too time-consuming, you can use LitExtension Files Migration or the All-in-One Migration Service instead.

Common Wix to Shopify Migration Mistakes to Avoid

A successful migration involves more than transferring products. Before launching Shopify, make sure you avoid these common issues:

• Closing your Wix store too early. Keep the source store accessible until you have confirmed that all required data and content are available in Shopify.
• Skipping 301 redirects. Wix and Shopify use different URL structures. Redirect important old URLs to their corresponding Shopify pages to reduce unnecessary 404 errors and SEO disruption.
• Overlooking data that cannot be exported directly. Digital products, blog content, and other store-specific information may need additional handling.
• Failing to review product options and variants. Differences between Wix and Shopify can affect how complex product structures appear after migration.
• Launching without testing your new store. Review the migrated data, then test checkout, payments, shipping, taxes, and other essential Shopify functions before directing customers to the new store.
