Step 1. Get expert consultation and planning

Step 2. Setup pre-migration

Once the migration scope is finalized, the next step is to set up the technical configuration. This includes defining how data is mapped and preparing the Magento store so that data can be migrated correctly and smoothly. 

More specifically, here is what we will do:

• Verify access and credentials for both Shopify and Magento to ensure uninterrupted migration.
• Define data mapping between Shopify and Magento for products, customers, orders, and related data.
• Configure Magento attributes, relationships, and data hierarchy to match the migration scope.
• Apply migration rules for custom fields and special data cases based on agreed requirements.
• Validate the migration configuration to ensure readiness for demo migration.

Step 3. Test with demo migration

Next, we run a demo migration with a small data sample to check the migration logic and data mapping. This step confirms that the Magento structure is correctly prepared before running the full migration.

In this step, we will:

• Run a demo migration by transferring a sample set of Shopify data to Magento.
• Migrate up to 200 entities per data type, beginning with orders, followed by products and customers.
• Verify data accuracy and structure using automated testing tools.
• Send the demo migration results for review and wait for your confirmation.
• Apply configuration adjustments if changes are requested before full migration.

Note: If the total number of entities is under 2,000, the demo migration may be skipped unless explicitly requested.

Step 4. Perform full data migration

Once you approve or verify the demo results, we proceed with the full migration. All data included in the approved scope is transferred from Shopify to Magento using the validated configuration. Our PA directly runs the migration to ensure data accuracy, platform compatibility, and system stability.

In this step, we will:

• Migrate all Shopify data included in the agreed scope, including products, customers, orders, and related records.
• Map custom fields and unique data structures to the corresponding Magento attributes.
• Execute selected additional migration options such as preserving Order IDs, stripping HTML content, or creating 301 redirects.
• Monitor the migration process in real time and address any issues that occur.
• Provide real-time status updates through the dashboard to keep progress transparent throughout the migration.

During this stage, your Shopify store remains fully operational while we migrate Shopify to Magento. All approved data is transferred in a controlled environment to ensure data safety and system stability.

Step 5. Audit the migration results

At this stage, all data has been migrated from Shopify to Magento. We review the migration results with you to confirm data accuracy, functional behavior, and alignment with the approved migration scope. Automated checks and manual validation are applied together to ensure the migration outcome meets the defined requirements.

In this step, we will:

• Run automated testing to analyze migrated data and identify inconsistencies or errors.
• Manually review complex data such as custom fields, advanced configurations, and special data types.
• Verify that migrated data matches the approved scope and behaves correctly on Magento.
• Prepare and deliver a quality assurance report summarizing validation results.

Step 6. Perform post-migration tasks

As your Shopify store may continue operating normally during and after migration, new data can still be generated or existing data may be updated. To keep your Magento store aligned during this transition period, we provide post-migration services that help you transfer newly created or updated data after the main migration is completed.

• Review and adjust server settings such as PHP memory limits, execution time, and MySQL configuration.
• Add relevant keywords to meta titles and descriptions to support SEO and search visibility.
