Salesforce to Shopify Plus Migration Case Study

This time, we had the honor of accompanying a 25-year-old cosmetics brand in their migration journey from Salesforce Commerce Cloud to Shopify Plus.

With a sales history spanning nearly three decades, our client has a large amount of data, including products & variations, customers, and orders. When it seemed impossible to manually transfer these entities, LitExtension took up their project and helped them perform the migration with perfection.

In this project, our client set a very tight deadline. The new store must be ready in under a month so that they could launch new products on schedule.

Our biggest challenge in this project is handling an enormous amount of data in a short period of time. Especially, due to the complexity of data structure of Salesforce, it might take us longer to customize and migrate.

Understanding the complexity of this migration project, our experts at LitExtension worked constantly to come up with the solution. A multi-threaded migration to speed up the process while maintaining the quality, and in-depth data modification to connect these platforms’ custom fields.

First, we began to modify custom data on Salesforce to make it compatible with Shopify infrastructure. During this stage, we created several demo migrations, ran, tested, and constantly validated these entities to make sure they could be transferred smoothly. The customer was informed of these demo migrations’ results, and they gave us further comments and inputs when needed.

After receiving the customer’s approval, LitExtension then carried out the full migration. Nonetheless, since the number of entities stored in our client’s database is enormous, our experts decided to perform Multi-threaded Migration to speed up the process.
