Magento to Shopify Migration

With a decade’s worth of product, customer, and order data accumulated on the Magento platform, our client, a global gearmaker with a vast catalog of unique items, sought a partner to seamlessly handle the complex migration to Shopify.

When the task of manually transferring this massive volume of information seemed invincible, LitExtension stepped in to seamlessly handle the complex migration.

• Migrate the UPC code from Magento attributes to Shopify
• Migrate newsletter subscribers to customers on Shopify
• Migrate customer reward points (not a default data supported by Shopify)

This migration project was particularly demanding due to two key factors: the substance volume of data stored in Magento and the client’s urgent need for a rapid transition to Shopify. We recognized the need for innovative solutions to address both the technical and timeline challenges.

We immediately gathered a dedicated team of migration experts and devised a streamlined plan to speed up the process. To meet the tight deadline, we proposed a multi-threaded migration service to significantly boost the migration speed. We used our in-depth knowledge of Magento and Shopify to develop custom scripts and tools that accelerated data extraction, transformation, and loading.

Understanding the intricacies of the client’s data, we also had to address unique migration requirements. We ensured a seamless transition by migrating UPCs on Magento to Barcodes on Shopify and transferred reward points to a third-party app installed on the Shopify store.

To ensure a smooth transition, we conducted several demo migrations, carefully testing and validating the transfer of all entities. We kept the customer informed of the results and incorporated their feedback throughout the process. Upon receiving their approval, we proceeded with the full migration.
