About Our Client

Our client is a fashion retailer in Spain, specializing in high-quality clothing, accessories, and unique lifestyle items. Known for their trend-forward designs and curated collections, they’ve quickly built a strong customer base across Europe.

While their PrestaShop store worked in the beginning, they found it increasingly difficult to keep up with the demands of a modern, sleek storefront. PrestaShop required a high level of technical knowledge to customize the store, which was a challenge for the client since they weren’t highly technical. They wanted a platform that would allow them to focus on growing their business, not spending countless hours figuring out how to configure their store.

Shopify presented the perfect solution. Its intuitive interface and easy-to-use design features made it possible to create a beautiful storefront without too much technical knowledge. For the client, Shopify simplified everything from updating product pages to running marketing campaigns, saving them both time and money.

When searching for a migration partner, they wanted someone trusted and experienced. LitExtension, a Shopify official partner, stood out due to our years of experience and positive reviews, reassuring the client that we could handle the migration with expertise and precision.

Our Client’s Requirements

To ensure a smooth migration and transition to Shopify, the client outlined the following key requirements:

  • Migrate all data from their PrestaShop store to Shopify (including customers, orders, and products).
  • Transfer images from categories and product descriptions to the new Shopify store.
  • Preserve Order IDs on the target store to maintain continuity.
  • Create 301 redirects on the target store after migration to ensure old URLs are correctly redirected and SEO rankings are preserved.
  • Strip HTML from category names and product names for cleaner, more readable content on Shopify.

The Challenges

The biggest challenge in this project was the tight deadline. Normally, a migration of this scale would take 5-6 days to complete, but the client needed everything done in just 3 days. This limited the time available for testing, adjustments, and handling any unexpected issues that could arise during the process.

Our Solution

To meet the tight 3-day deadline, we began with a demo migration involving 1,000 orders. This allowed the client to visualize the process and gave us the opportunity to address any potential issues beforehand. After the client confirmed the results and gave the green light, we proceeded with the full migration using our All-in-One Migration Service, ensuring a smooth and efficient transfer of all data, including customers, products, and orders.

For other migration requirements of the client, we utilized the Additional Options to ensure the most fulfilled PrestaShop to Shopify mirgation experience. These options are provided free of charge for anyone using our All-in-One Migration Service, included setting up 301 redirects and stripping HTML from product and category names for a cleaner look on the new store.
