How Shopify to Shift4Shop Migration Works
Our experts assess the project, prepare mapping, and run a Free Demo. After you review the samples, they perform Full Migration and validate the agreed results.
Our specialists review selected records, source access, target requirements, and existing Shift4Shop data. Your Personal Assistant coordinates preparation, scope, acceptance checks, and the project plan.
Our experts map supported records, configure applicable options, and run the Demo. Compare products, variants, images, category organization, customer names/emails, and historical orders before approving Full Migration.
Our team runs and monitors Full Migration, compares the agreed records, and investigates discrepancies. Your Personal Assistant coordinates final updates, your completed-data review, and handover.
Plan Your Shopify to Shift4Shop Migration
Define the products, categories, customers, and historical orders your business needs in Shift4Shop. Retain representative source examples for comparison, including products with variants and several images, sale prices, customer names/emails, and orders with different statuses and totals.
LitExtension’s All-in-One Migration Service uses an expert-managed workflow. Our specialists assess requirements and access, prepare mapping, configure applicable options, run the Free Demo and Full Migration, and validate agreed records. Your Personal Assistant coordinates feedback, approvals, final updates, and handover.
Compare AIO with Manual Imports
| Approach | Suitable task | Preparation |
|---|---|---|
| Manual CSV imports | Defined records with appropriate source files and target import formats. | Prepare files, map columns, maintain relationships, and inspect results. |
| Separate import tools | Specific data groups your team can prepare. | Check field coverage, duplicate handling, relationships, and remaining work. |
| LitExtension All-in-One Migration | The supported Shopify records listed on this page. | Provide requirements and access, review the Demo, and approve completed results while experts manage the transfer. |
Shopify product and order exports are separate files. A product CSV does not transfer the entire customer and historical-order scope together. Our team coordinates the preparation needed for your source and target rather than leaving the complete import workflow to your staff.
1. Agree on Scope and Access
Tell our experts about your catalog, order history, target store, languages, source apps, and custom product behavior. Identify subscriptions, loyalty records, custom fields, or app-managed processes before agreeing on the project. Records outside the listed transfer need a separate preparation plan.
Provide the source and target access requested by our specialists. Both Shopify and Shift4Shop are hosted platforms; the required connection workflow differs from uploading a connector to an open-source store. Keep access available through the Demo, Full Migration, and validation.
Record selected entity counts and retain examples your team can compare. Agree on acceptance checks for product values, images, category organization, customer names/emails, original order references, historical totals, and relationships.
2. Prepare Backups and Keep Source Assets Available
Keep original exports and copies of important assets. Shopify’s product-export documentation explains that image files are not embedded in the CSV. File-based imports need the source images to remain reachable, so coordinate source availability before deleting products, removing images, or closing the store.
If you use source files for backup or preparation, retain an unchanged copy. Shopify also warns that sorting a product CSV can disassociate variants or image URLs. Review relationships as well as individual cell values when examining exported data.
Prepare Shift4Shop and identify existing records that must remain. Save a target backup before approving Clear Target Data. Agree on selected entities to clean and on handling sample or Demo records before Full Migration.
Prepare the target theme, apps, payments, shipping, taxes, notifications, and checkout separately. Data migration does not convert Shopify themes, app code, payment credentials, subscription logic, or checkout customizations into Shift4Shop equivalents.
3. Map Products, Variants, and Categories
Products include names, SKUs, short/full descriptions, status, regular/special prices, quantities, stock-management settings, meta titles/descriptions, weight, dimensions, tags, variants, thumbnail images, and additional images.
Variants remains a parent group without promises for every detailed variation field. Compare representative selections, displayed prices, quantities, image placement, and cart behavior in the Demo. Custom inputs and app-controlled product logic need their own target implementation.
Shopify metafields are not converted into standalone Shift4Shop Attributes in this transfer. Vendor, product Tax Class, creation dates, up-sells, and cross-sells are not listed. Describe any required custom product information before planning the remaining storefront work.
Category data includes names, descriptions, images, and meta titles/descriptions. Sort order and original product/category URL keys are outside the listed scope. Shopify automated-collection conditions are not recreated as Shift4Shop category rules; review product organization and prepare navigation separately.
4. Map Customers and Historical Orders
Customer profiles include first names, last names, and emails. Passwords, profile addresses, creation dates, customer status, and email-marketing status are not included. An address on a historical order does not establish transfer of a saved customer-profile address.
Prepare Shift4Shop account access and password setup or recovery communications before launch. Test the intended customer journey rather than expecting Shopify passwords or email-code login behavior to carry across platforms.
Orders include IDs, dates, statuses, items, subtotal, discount, tax, shipping price, total price, comments, customer names/emails, and billing/shipping addresses. Order Items and addresses remain parent groups without added detail-field promises. Order tags and tracking number/URL fields are outside this scope.
Our experts configure Preserve Order IDs and compare original source references with you. Review historical totals and customer/order relationships. Shopify’s order-export documentation notes that exported order values reflect the time of purchase rather than current product information.
5. Prepare Content and Apps Outside the Transfer
Coupons, Reviews, CMS Pages, Blogs, Multiple Languages, Manufacturers, and Taxes are outside this route as separate entities. Shopify apps or Shift4Shop features do not establish migration of those records. Historical order tax and discount amounts are supported without transferring tax settings or coupon rules.
Keep required policy pages, articles, review material, translations, and app records. Prepare the target content and replacement functionality separately. Check collection organization, email-marketing setup, subscriptions, loyalty processes, and integrations before customers use the new store.
6. Configure Applicable Additional Options
All applicable Additional Options are included for free with AIO. Our experts configure 301 redirects, original order references, HTML cleanup for product/category names, approved target-data cleanup, and embedded description images.
Description Images covers reachable images in product and category descriptions. Review these separately from product thumbnails, additional images, and category images. The option does not add CMS-page or blog migration.
Approve cleanup after saving a backup and identifying records that must remain. Test important old Shopify URLs against relevant Shift4Shop destinations. Redirects are separate from transferring original URL keys and do not guarantee unchanged rankings.
7. Review the Demo and Complete Migration
Our experts run a Free Demo and coordinate your review. Compare product text, variants, prices, quantities, stock settings, images, metadata, weight/dimensions, category organization, customer names/emails, and historical orders with Shopify.
Matching counts alone do not establish correctness. Provide source and target examples for unexpected values, formatting, images, or relationships. Resolve discrepancies before approving Full Migration and identify any remaining storefront work separately.
Our team performs and monitors the full transfer, compares agreed records, and investigates migration discrepancies. Shopify can continue accepting orders during transfer. Your Personal Assistant communicates progress and coordinates the completed-data review.
8. Coordinate Final Updates and Launch
Track new and changed records during the project. Eligible Recent Data Migration, Smart Update, and Re-migration address agreed data under the project terms. Coordinate final updates before handover; these services do not provide continuous synchronization.
Test old URLs, internal links, account access, product selection, discounts, payments, shipping, taxes, notifications, and checkout on desktop and mobile. Keep source access and assets available until the transfer and agreed validation are complete, then coordinate the timing of source-store closure.
Cost and timing depend on selected data volume, access, mapping complexity, custom requirements, and Demo feedback. Use Estimate Migration Cost for an initial estimate or contact our experts to discuss your project.
Discuss your Shopify catalog, customer records, order history, and Shift4Shop requirements with our experts. Review a Free Demo before approving Full Migration.

Who We Truly Are? Let Our Customer Define!
I am in the process of moving my existing website over to Shopify. As this is my 4th iteration of my website, I knew I didn’t want to do the migration part myself again! Using this service meant that I could concentrate on running my business for a couple of days while the migration was being done for me.
Lotus was phenomenal! She is detailed-oriented and works extremely fast! She helped with the migration from Wix to Shopify in no time. Thank you so much Lotus and everyone at LitExtension!
We migrate with Litextension our shop from shopware to shopify. The team was great to work with. During the process we identified a few issues. But everything was fully resolved in two days. We are satisfied with the work from Litextension.
It was great service from those guys! Verry complex case with very old Woocommerce to new Woocommerce store!
I built our new Shopify site myself but with no developer experience. I really struggled migrating products, customers and order history. It was a bit overwhelming until I found Lit. They helped me set it up and did the contract. Emailed me at every stage and listened to my feedback. I found them on Thursday and by Monday the work was completed.

The team at LitExtension was great to work with, and also showed great patience with my migration needs. We had a large website, with many products and variants and they were able to do everything we needed, even some custom requests. Great people and great company.
Took most of the work off our hands. The team were great and went out of their way to get the migration from J2store to Shopify completed. The time zone differences were slightly difficult but that didn’t stop the work from being completed.
