A Zoey to Shopify migration moves your catalog, customers, and orders from your Zoey store to Shopify. This guide shows what to plan, what transfers, and how to launch safely.
Plan Your Zoey to Shopify Migration
Define the products, categories, customer records, and historical orders your business needs on Shopify. Keep representative source examples for comparison, including products with several options, special prices, images, customer addresses, and orders with different statuses and totals.

Zoey’s integration has ongoing sync processes. An AIO migration transfers agreed records and coordinates final updates. It does not establish continuous synchronization. If you intend to keep both systems, decide which system owns products, prices, inventory, and orders after the project.
Manually Transfer Data from Zoey to Shopify
You can move your data yourself at no service fee, and this route can work for a small catalog. It takes the most time, it invites mapping errors, and it needs technical skill, so our All-in-One Migration remains the more reliable option. If you still prefer to do it manually, follow these steps.
- Back up your Zoey data and images.
- Export products from the Products List with Bulk Actions, and choose Full Product Data or a template that fits your needs.
- Export orders from the Order List with Bulk Actions, and choose Export Full Order Data so you keep line items, tax and shipping rates, and discount codes.
- Export customers from Customers, then Accounts, with Bulk Actions, and choose Export Full Account Data.
- Rename and reorder the columns to match the Shopify import template, and map each Zoey SKU to the Shopify SKU.
- Rebuild option combinations as Shopify variants.
- In Shopify, import products and customers from their own Import buttons, and fix any errors the importer reports.
- Use an import app for historical orders, and follow that app’s own guide.
- Recreate your pages and set up URL redirects.
1. Define Scope and Source Access
Tell our experts about your Zoey catalog, order history, customer accounts, target store, integrations, and custom fields. Identify wholesale pricing, account permissions, quote workflows, sales-rep processes, and any ERP connection before agreeing on the project.
Provide the source and target access requested by our specialists and keep it available through the Demo, transfer, and validation. Our team coordinates connection setup and source preparation.
Agree on acceptance checks for selected counts, product values, images, category organization, customer profiles, original order references, totals, and relationships. Retain examples your team can compare in both stores.
2. Prepare Backups and Existing Shopify Data
Keep source data, important assets, and original exports. Zoey provides different product and order export templates. If you make native backups, check the selected records and export type. A grid view or basic export does not give you the full data that a complete historical-order review needs.
Prepare Shopify and identify records that must remain. Save a target backup before approving Clear Target Data. Agree on selected cleanup entities and how your team will handle Demo or test records before Full Migration.
Prepare the target theme, replacement apps, payments, shipping, taxes, notifications, and checkout separately. The transfer does not convert Zoey design code, integration logic, or payment credentials into Shopify features.
Set Up Shopify Before the Transfer
A few settings protect your team and your customers during the Full Migration.
- Plan: Activate a paid Shopify plan before the Full Migration. Any paid plan works, including Basic. Trial and development stores create only 5 new orders per minute, which makes the transfer much slower.
- Staff notifications: Turn them off under Settings, then Notifications, then Staff notifications. Shopify treats every migrated order as a new order, so it can send staff emails. Turn them back on after the migration.
- Order-trigger apps: Pause marketing, email, and shipping apps, such as Shopify Flow, that react to new orders.
- Sync apps: Pause inventory, ERP, POS, and marketplace sync apps, because they can change or duplicate migrated data.
3. Map Products and Shopify Collections
Products include names, SKUs, short/full descriptions, status, regular/special prices, quantities, stock-management settings, meta titles/descriptions, tags, variants, and images. Compare representative option combinations, displayed prices, stock, images, and cart behavior during the Demo.
Shopify has no standalone options, so Zoey options become variants. Attributes and custom fields that cannot work as options become product metafields automatically. This route does not include weight, dimensions, or product creation dates. Variant support does not recreate every custom input, app-controlled rule, or specialized product workflow. Explain required behavior before planning its target implementation.
Category data includes names, descriptions, images, and meta titles/descriptions. Our experts configure Shopify Smart Collections using product tags. Check product membership and prepare target navigation separately. This route does not include category sort order or source URL keys.
4. Map Customers and Historical Orders
Customer records include first names, last names, emails, addresses, and email-marketing status. This route does not include passwords, creation dates, customer groups, company hierarchies, or sales-rep assignments. Review sample addresses and marketing values without adding assumptions about missing source information.
Prepare Shopify customer accounts before launch. Customers can sign in using the email associated with their profile and a one-time code. Shopify does not use the source password for this sign-in method. Test the intended account and order-history experience.
Orders include IDs, dates, statuses, items, subtotal, discounts, taxes, shipping price, total price, customer names/emails, and billing/shipping addresses. Order Items and addresses remain groups without additional detailed-field promises. The transfer does not include notes, order tags, tracking fields, or quote records.
Our experts configure Preserve Order IDs and compare original references in the Demo. Review historical totals and customer relationships against Zoey orders. If using native exports for backup, choose the order export that contains the required line-item data rather than relying only on visible grid columns.
5. Plan Wholesale Pricing and Quote Workflows
Zoey customer groups can determine price lists and customer-specific prices. Quotes have a separate workflow that can produce orders. A transferred catalog price or completed historical order does not recreate group pricing, an open quote, approval rules, payment terms, or the quote-to-order process.
Document required companies, buyer permissions, catalog visibility, negotiated prices, and approvals. Select the appropriate Shopify features and apps for your target setup. Shopify B2B capabilities depend on the selected plan. Verify the features your business needs before committing to the launch workflow.
Coupons, Reviews, CMS Pages, Blogs, Multiple Languages, Manufacturers, and Taxes are outside this route as separate entities. Retain required content, translations, reviews, and promotion rules for separate preparation. Historical tax and discount totals do not configure checkout rules.
Know Shopify Limits Before You Migrate
Shopify structures some data differently from Zoey, so review these points during scoping.
- Variant limits: A Shopify product holds up to 2,048 variants and 3 options. Our specialists review products that go beyond this.
- Daily variant cap: After a store reaches 50,000 variants, Shopify accepts only 1,000 new variants per day. This cap does not apply to Shopify Plus.
- Order dates: Shopify cannot keep the original order creation date, so it shows the original date as the processed date.
- Currency and tax: The migration does not convert prices between currencies, and it transfers prices without tax by default.
6. Configure All Applicable Additional Options
AIO includes all applicable Additional Options for free. Our experts configure redirects, original order IDs, product/category name cleanup, approved target cleanup, images embedded in product/category descriptions, and Shopify Smart Collections.
Description Images is separate from ordinary product and category images. Review the embedded images and corresponding text in the Demo. This option does not add page or blog migration.
Approve cleanup after saving a backup and identifying records that must remain. Keep important old URLs and test their Shopify destinations. Redirects do not transfer original URL keys or guarantee unchanged rankings.
7. Review the Demo and Complete Migration
Our specialists run a Free Demo and coordinate your review. Compare product descriptions, variants, prices, stock, images, metadata, collection membership, customer addresses/marketing status, order references, dates, totals, and relationships.
Matching counts alone do not establish correctness. Save source and target examples for unexpected values, formatting, images, or relationships. Resolve discrepancies before approving Full Migration and identify remaining storefront work separately.
Our team runs and monitors Full Migration, compares agreed records, and investigates migration discrepancies. Zoey can continue accepting orders during transfer. Your Personal Assistant communicates progress and coordinates completed-data review.
8. Coordinate Final Updates and Launch
Track new and changed source records. Eligible Recent Data Migration, Smart Update, and Re-migration address agreed records under project terms. Your Personal Assistant coordinates final updates before handover. These operations do not provide continuous synchronization.
Test old URLs, internal links, collection navigation, customer access, product selections, payments, shipping, taxes, notifications, and checkout on desktop and mobile. Keep source access and assets available until transfer and agreed validation are complete.
Zoey to Shopify Migration Checklist: Post Activities
Use this checklist after the Full Migration to confirm that your Shopify store is ready for customers.
- Check the migrated products, variants, collections, customers, and orders in your Shopify admin.
- Rebuild your category menu under Content, then Menus, and nest collections in the main menu, because Shopify does not support sub-collections.
- Turn on customer sign-in under Settings, then Customer accounts, by enabling Show sign-in links.
- Test checkout with each payment gateway, shipping rate, and tax setting.
- Turn staff notifications and paused apps back on.
- Submit your new sitemap to Google Search Console.
- Run a Recent Data Migration to bring in new orders and customers from Zoey.
- Confirm that your wholesale pricing and quote workflow work in the Shopify setup you chose.
Troubleshoot Common Issues with Zoey to Shopify Migration
A migration can hit a few common snags, mostly around speed, B2B pricing, URLs, and customer logins. The table below shows what to expect and how to fix it.
