Easy Digital Downloads Migration

Easy Digital Downloads is a WordPress plugin built specifically for selling digital products, such as ebooks, plugins, courses, and software licenses, rather than physical goods. Store owners who currently sell digital products on a general-purpose platform often move to Easy Digital Downloads for its focused feature set and lower ongoing costs.

Yes. Easy Digital Downloads runs as a plugin inside WordPress, so your target store needs a WordPress installation with the Easy Digital Downloads plugin installed and active before you start your migration.

LitExtension offers three pricing options for your Easy Digital Downloads migration, depending on your store size and how much support you need:

• If your store has fewer than 100 products, orders, and customers, the Freemium Migration Package lets you transfer data at no cost, no payment required.
• For a fast, self-managed transfer, the Automated Migration Tool starts from $59, with the final price scaling based on your total number of entities.
• For a fully managed, expert-handled migration from start to finish, the All-In-One Migration Service starts at $169 and includes technical consultation, data mapping, demo migration, full transfer, results testing, and up to 60 days of post-migration support.

For an accurate quote based on your store’s data volume, please contact our Support Agents.

These few factors determine your final Easy Digital Downloads migration price:

• The total volume of data you migrate.
• The complexity of your project, such as custom fields or unique product attributes, which often need extra mapping work.
• The migration method you choose (self-service tool versus full-service expert migration) and any add-on options you select.

Most migrations are completed within a few hours to a few days, though the exact timeline depends on your store’s size and data complexity. Smaller stores with simple catalogs migrate faster, sometimes within the same day, while larger stores with extensive product variations or custom configurations take longer to map and validate properly.

In this case, please contact LitExtension’s support team so our migration experts can assess your specific requirements. This way, we can configure custom workarounds for you so that your non-standard data can be transferred accurately and securely to Easy Digital Downloads.

Choose the Automated Migration Tool if you’re comfortable configuring and monitoring the transfer yourself. On the other hand, choose the All-In-One Migration Service if you’d rather have LitExtension experts handle setup, data mapping, validation, and any custom requirements for you.

LitExtension offers a Create 301 Redirects option that automatically points your old store’s URLs to their new Easy Digital Downloads equivalents, which helps preserve your link equity during the switch.

But please note that your page rankings don’t depend only on 301 redirects. Hence, after the Easy Digital Downloads migration, it’s recommended to monitor your SEO performance and perform optimization if needed to prevent SEO loss.

No, your current store design or theme cannot be migrated to Easy Digital Downloads. This is due to the difference in design systems between platforms, so after the switch, you’ll need to set up and customize a WordPress theme on the new store to replicate your old store’s look and feel.

Yes. LitExtension protects your exchanged data with HTTPS and the latest SSL encryption technology. Additionally, we do not store your data on our servers, since data moves directly from your current store to your new Easy Digital Downloads store. LitExtension is also GDPR-compliant and signs a Non-Disclosure Agreement with you before your migration order begins.
