API is the acronym for Application Programming Interface, which is a software intermediary that allows two applications to talk to each other. The Shopify API is a powerful tool that lets you offer enhanced solutions to your Shopify.
To migrate from/to Shopify, you need API info to get your job done. During the migration process, API Password will be used to make data transfer possible. This guide shows you how to get API from your Shopify store through a few simple steps.
Step 1: From your Shopify admin panel, go to Settings > Apps and sales channels.
Step 2: Click on Develop apps.
Step 3: Select “Create an app” and fill in the app name
Step 4: Click on Configure Admin API scopes.
Step 5: Scroll down and tick all permissions “Read_….” and “Write_…” (if any). Then, click Save at the bottom of the page.
Step 6: Scroll up and click Install app at the right corner of the dashboard to get your Admin API token.
Step 7: Click Install to give this app access to your data. Now, the Admin API access token is revealed, and you are ready to run your migration!
IMPORTANT:
Be noted that the Admin API token will only be revealed once due to data protection. Copy and save your Admin API access token in a secure place.
