API credentials (such as an API key, secret key, or access token) allow LitExtension to securely connect to your store and access the data needed for migration, without requiring you to install a Connector file. This is especially common for hosted platforms.

- Log in to your store’s admin panel.
- Look for an API or Apps section, usually found under “Settings“.
- Create a new API credential or private app. You may need to name it and select the specific permissions or scopes it needs, such as read access to products, customers, and orders.
- Generate and copy your credentials. Most platforms will display your API key, secret key, or access token only once, so save it securely right away.
- Enter these credentials into the corresponding fields when setting up your Source Cart or Target Cart in the LitExtension app.
