LitExtension connector is designed specifically for data migration from the source store to the target accurately based on the default database structure of the two stores. The LitExtension migration app performance depends partly on the source environment as well as the target hosting/server. And those factors can be objective reasons affecting your demo migration process.
No “Connector Installed” Message
When testing the Connector by accessing http(s)://yourstore.com/le_connector/connector.php
, you might not see the “Connector installed” message. This issue can arise from several potential causes:
1. You have uploaded the Connector to a wrong location
The “le_connector” folder is not placed in the store’s root directory. You should use an FTP client like FileZilla to check the location and ensure the folder is correctly placed. If you’re unsure, consult your hosting provider to confirm the root directory.
2. Folder and Connector file were not set with the correct permissions
To fix this issue, access your server using an FTP client, navigate to the folder, and right-click to adjust the File Permissions. Set the numeric value to 755, which provides the Connector with the appropriate level of access. Once updated, the Connector should function as expected.
3. Your server is running Nginx
Nginx servers often block access to certain PHP files by default, which can interfere with the Connector’s operation. In this case, you’ll need to modify the Nginx server configuration to allow PHP files to run. Follow this guide to update the configuration. If you’re not familiar with server configurations, we recommend asking your developer or hosting provider for help.
4. Your server/hosting cache is enabled (often is OpCache)
Caching systems like OpCache can delay recognition of newly uploaded files, causing unexpected Connector issues. If your server has caching enabled, these files might not immediately take effect. Instead of manually clearing the cache, temporarily disabling it can often resolve the issue faster. Work with your hosting provider to handle this process smoothly, and once the cache is cleared, verify that the Connector is operating as expected.
“Cannot Reach Connector” Message
You have installed the connector successfully and getting the message “Connector installed” already but it showed “Cannot reach connector”. This problem caused by one of the following reasons:
1. You Source or Target Store has blocked LitExtension Servers
Contact your server/hosting provider to temporarily disable the firewall or add LitExtension server IPs to the whitelist:
- 45.79.22.231
- 45.33.22.226
- 139.162.150.26
- 23.239.27.249
- 172.104.161.33
- 45.63.30.167
- 222.252.17.220
- 113.190.242.24
- 115.79.41.111
2. You source or Target Store has been configured to prevent migration Bots
Some servers block migration tools due to bot or spam protections. Please contact your hosting provider to adjust these settings and allow the LitExtension migration tool.
Migration Process Issues
1. The process is stopped when unfinished
This might be caused by an issue with the migration tool. You should contact LitExtension Support for detail checking and solutions.
2. You Serves has been configured to restrict POST and GET data
Your server/hosting is limited with data POST length or limited the resulting length returned from Connector. For example, Data post up or post back to Connector is too long and your Server/hosting has blocked those requests.
Please contact the LitExtension team for detailed guidance. In such case, it’s recommended to choose our All-in-One Migration Service, your entire migration process will be taken care by a Personal Assistant (PA).
Migration Results Issues
After migration, you are not happy with the migration results because it doesn’t show as you expected. This problem caused by one of the following reasons:
1. You forgot to perform post-migration actions
Some target carts require you to manually regen thumbnails or reindex after the migration is done but you forgot to do it. This has been clearly instructed on the migration page after the migration is finished. You should check your migration detail page and follow the instructions to fix this issue. These steps are normally very easy to accomplish.
2. Your server/hosting is configured to limit the Connector operations
Sometimes, server or hosting configurations can restrict the Connector’s operations, such as downloading images or executing specific PHP commands. These limitations can prevent the migration tool from functioning as intended.
To address this, please reach out to our LitExtension Support team. We will assess the issue and provide detailed guidance tailored to your situation. If the problem cannot be easily resolved on your current server, we offer alternative solutions. For example, you can take full advantage of our All-in-One Migration Service, in which we can help to move your Target store to another fully working server.
3. Your data is not transferred accurately
After the migration, you are not satisfied with the result because it is not what you expected. This problem might be caused by one of the following reasons:
- Your source store or target store has been customized. During your store development, you might have modified your store database and made it different from the original default store. This leads to failure or missing data after migration.
- You have installed third party plugins to your source store or target store. These plugins add features and data to your original store. Therefore, the additional data will not be transferred over after migration.
- Target store data does not look 100% percent like your Source data. This might happen when your Target store uses a different platform from your Source store. The data from the Source store has been transformed to fit your Target store, thus, there might be some differences.
