About Our Client

Our client is a long-standing footwear brand known for combining style, comfort, and affordability. With a wide range of women’s shoes, including boots, sandals, and casual wear, their products are sold widely online and have a strong following across North America.

While both Magento and Shopify Plus are powerful platforms suited for enterprise-level businesses, the client found Magento increasingly difficult to manage due to its complexity and technical maintenance requirements. This led to their decision of migrating to Shopify Plus.

The client discovered LitExtension while researching trusted migration solutions for large-scale eCommerce stores. Impressed by our strong track record and positive reviews, they chose us for our ability to handle complex data with accuracy and minimal disruption.

Our Client’s Requirements

To ensure a smooth move to Shopify Plus, the client opted for our All-in-One Migration Service with a clear set of priorities. They needed all core store data (products, orders, categories, and more) migrated accurately and completely, with no data loss. Additionally, they requested the full use of LitExtension’s Additional Options to retain key elements like product and customer IDs, 301 redirects, and other essential store details.

The Challenges

The client’s Magento store used tiered pricing by customer group, allowing different users to see different prices for the same product. On Shopify Plus, this isn’t supported by default so our client had to use third-party app for pricing adjustments. Thus, our job is to make sure this data type is accurately migrate from Magento to Shopify Plus.

Our Solution

To handle the difference in product structures, our team carefully analyzed how variants were organized in the client’s Magento store. Since Magento treats each variation as a linked simple product, we mapped these relationships to Shopify’s variant system, combining attributes like size and color under a single product with multiple options.

Since Shopify Plus doesn’t support customer group-based pricing natively, we consulted with the client to implement a solution using Shopify Scripts. This allowed them to apply dynamic pricing rules at checkout based on customer tags, preserving the core logic of their tiered pricing system.

Thanks to this approach, all products were migrated cleanly, with their full variant details intact, ensuring the new store functioned as expected from day one.
