About Our Client

Our client is a German-based electronics and tech-gear retailer serving customers across Europe. Their online store is a major revenue driver, connecting them with a growing community of tech enthusiasts.

Their business was originally built on Jimdo, which offered a simple setup but became restrictive as their catalog expanded. WooCommerce, on the other hand, is open-source, giving them full control over design, extensions and store logic – all while being more cost-effective in the long term.

After reviewing multiple migration service providers, they chose LitExtension because of our strong track record with migrations from less common platforms and our ability to handle complex data mapping reliably. They were also reassured by the transparency of our workflow and the dedicated support team available throughout the project.

Our Client’s Requirements

The client requested the following for their migration project:

  • Migrate essential store data, including customers, orders, products and product tax information.
  • Migrate product collections to maintain their catalog structure.

They also selected several free Additional Options included in our All-in-One Migration Service:

  • Clear data on WooCommerce before migration;
  • Preserve order IDs during migration.

The Challenges

The main challenge came from the difference in how Jimdo and WooCommerce structure product catalogs. Jimdo uses a simple collection system, while WooCommerce relies on a structured category hierarchy. Without careful handling, the product-grouping data exported from Jimdo would not be organized in a way that WooCommerce could interpret immediately.

Our Solution

To address the catalog-structure differences, we began by analyzing the client’s product setup in Jimdo to understand exactly how their collections were organized. From there, we rebuilt the eviqualent category structure in WooCommerce to ensure the catalog remained familiar and accurate.

For the rest of the store data, we followed our standard mapping process to align all fields with WooCommerce’s format. Once everything was prepared, we ran the full migration under the All-in-One service and completed thorough QA checks. This workflow ensured a smooth and reliable transition to the new platform.
