About Our Client
Our client is a UK-based equestrian brand that has been serving the riding community for over five years. They specialize in stylish, functional clothing for horse riders and also offer expert saddle fitting services.
After several years on EKM, the brand found it difficult to deliver the online experience they envisioned. Limited storefront design and outdated tools restricted how they showcased their products and served customers. To overcome this, they chose Shopify – a platform with flexible customization and powerful features to rebuild their store with more freedom and functionality.
When planning the migration, the client wanted a partner who could handle large-scale data transfers with precision. After exploring different options, they discovered LitExtension – a trusted Shopify Partner known for secure, accurate migration service. Our consistent track record and hundreds of positive customer reviews across platforms like Shopify, Trustpilot, and G2 gave them the confidence to move forward with our service.
Our Client’s Requirements
The client came to LitExtension with a clear set of requirements for migrating their store data from EKM Powershop to Shopify. These included:
- Migrating products, customers, and orders – totaling over 70,000 entities
- Migrating blog posts and content pages
- Clearing all existing data on the Shopify store before starting the migration
- Preserving product, order, and customer IDs on the new store
- Converting EKM categories into Shopify’s automated collections
The Challenges
Though not a major obstacle, the difference in how EKM and Shopify structure and label their data fields required our extra attention. For example, order statuses in EKM use platform-specific terminology that doesn’t directly align with Shopify’s naming conventions. If not prepare carefully, there could be a risk of misclassified records or inaccurate status tracking if not properly mapped.
Our Solution
To address the differences in data field structure and terminology, we first provided the client with a detailed data mapping document. After their review and confirmation, we ran a demo migration to validate the setup before proceeding with the full migration.
As part of our All-in-One Migration Service, we also ran the free Additional Options for a complete experience. Then, our team conducted two rounds of QA testing to ensure accuracy and consistency across all entities. The project was delivered smoothly, with results that met all expectations.
