About Our Client

Our client operates an online retail brand featuring unique, hand-made jewellery, vintage accessories, bridal pieces, and unusual gift items. Their website serves as the main channel for showcasing creative products and handling customer orders, blending artistic expression with eCommerce functionality.

After a few years running their store on Ecwid, the client can see the clear limitations with storefront design and product presentation. Customizing layouts, highlighting collections, and fully expressing the brand’s creative identity was restricted, while several advanced eCommerce features were also missing. Meanwhile, Shopify addressed these gaps by offering greater design flexibility, stronger merchandising tools, and access to a broader app ecosystem.

When selecting a migration partner, the client focused on finding a provider with a structured service offering and a clear scope of work. They chose LitExtension because our All-in-One Migration Service matched their project needs, timeline, and technical requirements. This alignment allowed the client to move forward with confidence, knowing the migration would be handled in a controlled and predictable manner.

Our Client’s Requirements

The client required a complete migration of all eCommerce data from Ecwid to Shopify. This included products, customers, and order records to ensure continuity across the new store.

The Challenges

The main challenge during the migration was the difference between how Ecwid and Shopify handle order and fulfillment statuses. Each platform uses its own status logic and structure, which meant that certain order states did not map directly from Ecwid to Shopify.

Our Solution

To handle the differences in order and fulfillment statuses, we first created a detailed status mapping table between Ecwid and Shopify. This mapping was shared with the client for review and confirmation before the migration was executed, ensuring all historical order information would be reflected correctly on Shopify.

All other data types were migrated following our standard process. This included reviewing the source data, mapping data fields between Ecwid and Shopify, running a full migration, and performing QA checks to verify data accuracy and completeness before final delivery.
