About Our Client
Our client, based in Sydney, Australia, has been a trusted supplier of fine wines, beers, whiskies, and spirits since 1956. Known for sourcing exceptional drinks from around the world, they cater to enthusiasts seeking premium products and unique tasting experiences. Their commitment to quality and customer satisfaction has made them a respected name in the industry.
While both BigCommerce and WooCommerce offer scalability and flexibility, WooCommerce stood out for its cost-effectiveness. The platform’s maintenance fees adjust based on their specific needs, making it a more budget-friendly solution as they expand.
Our Client’s Requirements
The client had detailed and specific requirements to ensure a smooth and accurate migration process. They prioritized keeping their data organized and avoiding disruptions to their existing store:
- They only wanted to migrate customer and order data, excluding other data types.
- Orders need to be linked to products using SKUs or product names for accuracy.
- Existing data on the WooCommerce store had to remain untouched during the migration.
- Orders were to be mapped based on the default structure.
The Challenges
The main challenge of this project was the tight deadline set by the client. Their BigCommerce store was scheduled to close soon, leaving little time to complete the migration. This required our team to work efficiently and minimize errors to ensure we met the deadline without compromising quality.
Our Solution
We combined our All-in-One Migration Service with Customization Service to fulfill the client’s requirements. With the customization part, we can link the orders to the right products using SKUs or product names. This process involved creating a custom setup to match the client’s unique data structure, ensuring everything was accurate and organized.
With the tight deadline, our team worked hard to speed up the data mapping, migration, and testing while staying in close contact with the client. We carefully tested the data to make sure everything was accurate, especially the customized order-product links, and quickly addressed any feedback to fix any issues.
