Plan Your Wix to BigCommerce Migration

Start with the records your business needs in BigCommerce: products and categories, customer profiles, and historical orders. Compare Migration with Manual Record Preparation

This LitExtension route uses expert-managed migration. Your team does not need to configure a self-service transfer. Data migration does not convert the Wix design, apps, or custom code into BigCommerce features.

1. Agree on Data and Acceptance Checks

Tell our specialists which products and categories you want to transfer and how much customer and order history you need. Describe existing BigCommerce data and any launch date you are working toward. Identify custom fields, app-generated records, or specialized product behavior before the scope is agreed.

Record the counts for selected entities and retain representative source examples. Agree on the product, customer, and order values that matter to your daily work. These checks help distinguish a migration discrepancy from a separate design or target-configuration task.

2. Prepare Backups, Access, and BigCommerce

Keep source exports and copies of the assets you need. Wix product and order exports are separate files; a CSV export is not a complete BigCommerce store migration. Wix’s native product-export documentation currently excludes digital products. That is a limitation of that export method, not a reason to assume every AIO project must use the same files. Our experts assess the available source access and data preparation for your actual store. Prepare BigCommerce and coordinate the access requested by our experts. Keep it available through the Demo, Full Migration, and validation.

Review target records before enabling Clear Target Data. Agree on which selected entities may be cleaned and which existing records must remain, then save a target backup. Discuss sample or test orders and products before the transfer begins.

Prepare the BigCommerce theme, replacement extensions, payment methods, shipping, taxes, and notifications separately. The record transfer does not rebuild the Wix storefront or its operational settings.

3. Map Products, Variants, and Categories

Our experts map product names, SKUs, short and full descriptions, status, manufacturer, prices, special prices, quantities, stock settings, metadata, weight, dimensions, tags, attributes, variants, and images. Attributes and Variants are included as groups; inspect their target presentation in the Demo rather than assuming every detailed source field is recreated.

Category data includes names, descriptions, images, meta titles, and meta descriptions. Review category assignments and target navigation separately. Category sort order is not part of this transfer.

Wix variants and attributes are included as product groups. BigCommerce distinguishes product variants from modifiers, so describe custom inputs and app-controlled selections separately. Inspect representative option combinations, their BigCommerce presentation, selection, and cart behavior during the Demo. The groups do not promise every detailed variant subfield or recreate Wix product modifiers and custom behavior.

Product tax class, creation dates, downloadable-product files/rules, grouped-product associations, and up-sells/cross-sells are not included. Prepare required BigCommerce product behavior separately.

4. Map Customers and Historical Orders

Customers include first names, last names, emails, phone numbers, subscription status, and billing addresses. Customer passwords, usernames, company, creation dates, status, and display names are not included. Prepare and test BigCommerce account access separately before launch.

Orders include IDs, dates, statuses, items, totals, subtotal, discount, tax, shipping price, comments, customer names and emails, and billing and shipping addresses. Our experts preserve the original Wix order reference in BigCommerce’s External ID field. BigCommerce generates its own internal order ID. Review sample order relationships and addresses during the Demo.

Order Items and address fields are transferred as groups. Their presence does not expand the transfer into target-only detailed subfields. Wix order tags are not included. Separate manufacturer, tax, coupon, review, page, blog, and multilingual entities are outside this route.

5. Configure the Additional Options

All applicable Additional Options are included for free with All-in-One Migration. Original order references use External ID rather than BigCommerce’s internal ID. Our experts configure redirects, original order references, HTML cleanup for product and category names, approved target-data cleanup, and images embedded in product and category descriptions.

Embedded description images are separate from thumbnail and additional-image fields. Review both types in the Demo. Blog descriptions are not covered because blogs are not included in this transfer.

Agree on cleanup before existing BigCommerce records are removed and keep a target backup. Test important redirects and check source order references in External ID in the sample results before approving Full Migration.

6. Review the Free Demo

Our specialists run a Free Demo and share the sample records for your review. Compare product names, SKUs, descriptions, status, manufacturer, prices, stock settings, metadata, dimensions, tags, attributes, variants, and images with Wix.

Inspect category text, images, metadata, and organization. Check customer names, emails, phone numbers, subscription status, and billing addresses. Review representative orders for references, dates, statuses, items, totals, comments, addresses, and customer relationships.

Open the target records as customers or staff will use them. Matching counts alone do not confirm correctness. Record examples of unexpected values, formatting, or images and resolve them with our experts before approving the full transfer.

7. Complete Migration and Validate Results

After Demo approval, our team performs and monitors Full Migration. Your Wix store can continue accepting orders while the data transfer runs. Your Personal Assistant communicates progress and coordinates the completed-data review.

Our specialists compare the agreed records and investigate migration discrepancies. Review counts and representative products, categories, customers, and orders before accepting the result. Track records created or changed in Wix during the project so remaining updates can be planned before handover.

8. Prepare SEO, Customer Access, and Checkout

Review migrated product and category meta titles and descriptions. Test important redirects from Wix pages to BigCommerce destinations, update internal links, and check the new navigation. A transfer does not guarantee identical URL structures or unchanged search rankings.

Prepare site content separately because CMS pages and blogs are not included. Test BigCommerce customer access, browsing, cart actions, payments, shipping, taxes, and checkout on desktop and mobile. Complete storefront and settings checks before directing customers to the new store.
