About Our Client

Our client sells fresh, pasture-raised meat—including pork, grass-fed beef, lamb, goat, chicken, and turkey—raised right on their family-owned farm. With a focus on sustainability and animal welfare, they aim to bring high-quality, honest food to customers who care about where their meals come from.

As demand grew, so did their ambitions. They wanted to expand beyond one-time orders, offering seasonal bundles, curated boxes. In the long run, they even attempt to provide subscription plans to better serve their loyal customers. But their existing Weebly site couldn’t support these new goals. It lacked the flexibility, features, and user experience needed to scale.

That’s when they turned to Shopify—and trusted LitExtension to handle the migration with care.

Our Client’s Requirements

Before we got started, our client outlined a few key requirements for the project:

  • Migrate all essential data, including products, orders, customers, and other store content from Weebly to Shopify.
  • Use the Additional Option “Create 301 Redirects on Target Store” to keep old links active and properly routed to the new Shopify pages. This ensured a smoother user experience for returning customers after the migration.

The Challenges

In this project, we ran into a unique challenge with how product options were structured in Weebly. Their store used a mix of variants and modifiers—a setup that gave them flexibility on Weebly, but didn’t quite fit into Shopify’s variant-only system. Our client needed both sets of data preserved: variants had to be mapped accurately, and modifiers couldn’t just be left behind.

Our Solution

We carried out this project using our All-in-One Migration Service, which included a dedicated personal assistant to manage the entire process from start to finish. This ensured that the client was kept informed throughout, and any issues or requests were handled quickly and efficiently.

When it came to handling Weebly’s unique product structure, we treated modifiers as custom data and migrated them into Shopify metafields. This approach kept all product details organized and fully visible on the new Shopify store, preserving the client’s store functionality and appearance.

To further meet the client’s specific needs, we applied the “Create 301 Redirects on Target Store” Additional Option—free of charge, along with other useful options—to keep old links active and ensure a smooth browsing experience after migration.
