About Our Client

Our client is a leading provider of essential stock parts, offering a wide range of components that support various industries. Their inventory includes everything from lift gate parts and structural components to lighting and safety essentials. With a reputation for quality and reliability, they are committed to providing the parts customers need to keep their operations running smoothly.

Even though Magento offers robust capabilities, it often requires significant effort and additional costs to optimize processes and ensure smooth performance. At this moment, MivaMerchant seems to be a more ideal alternative for our client since it provides the essential eCommerce features at a more affordable price point.

Our Client’s Requirements

For their migration from Magento to MivaMerchant, the client signed up for our All-in-One Migration Service and outlined these specific requirements:

  • Comprehensive data migration: They needed all essential data entities – orders, products, customers, and other default records—to be transferred accurately from their Magento server to the new MivaMerchant platform.
  • SEO and URLs preservation: To ensure continuity in search engine rankings, they requested both 301 redirects and SEO URL migration. In more details, they required the LitExtension team to utilize the MivaMerchant’s API to maintain their current SEO structure as closely as possible.
  • Extended post-migration support period: Recognizing the need for ongoing assistance post-migration, they required an extended support time to address any potential issues and ensure a smooth transition to the new platform.

The Challenges

After completing the demo migration and sharing the results with the client, we encountered a specific challenge with the category migration. The Category Tree images had mistakenly populated the Category Title field. Even after relocating the images to the correct field, they displayed as broken links on the frontend.

Our Solution

Facing these challenges, the LitExtension team prioritized clear communication with the client, informing them of potential delays due to the category migration issue. Fortunately, the client was understanding and supportive as we worked on resolving the issue. We immediately set to work on fixing the Category Tree migration error, where images had transferred incorrectly into the Category Title field.

This issue arose because the image path appeared as a URL instead of following the proper file path format required by MevaMerchant. To resolve this, we carefully re-mapped the data fields so that the images were correctly assigned to the Category Image field. We then reviewed the image paths, adjusting them from URL formats to the correct file path structure required by MevaMerchant. This adjustment allowed the images to display properly on the frontend without any broken links.

With the category issue resolved, we proceeded with the Full Migration, ensuring a comprehensive transfer of all required data entities. Throughout the process, we promptly addressed any client feedback, fixing any minor issues in the shortest time possible. Thanks to our swift, precise response, the client expressed satisfaction with the migration results and provided positive feedback on the final outcome.
