About Our Client
Our client is a fast-growing business in the outdoor survival niche, providing a wide array of products and educational content for outdoor enthusiasts and survivalists. Known for their unique blend of creativity and practicality, they offer high-quality gear such as slingshots, knives, and fishing tools, along with specialty items like seasonings for cooking in the wild.
As their business grew, they recognized that their existing platform, Squarespace, limited their ability to fully focus on eCommerce and scale efficiently. That’s when they decided to migrate to Shopify. Its specialized tools, such as multi-channel selling and abandoned cart recovery, allowed them to streamline their operations and better support their growing product line.
Our Client’s Requirements
The client sought to migrate their essential data from Squarespace to Shopify, including products, customers, orders, and other default data types. Additionally, they had specific requests to enhance the migration process, including:
- Migrating categories and product SEO URLs;
- Creating 301 redirects on the target cart after the migration;
- Performing a recent data migration to ensure all current information was captured.
Another important requirement was that they wanted to use their own company name when creating the API app, without any mention of LitExtension. This ensured the migration process aligned with their branding and provided a seamless transition for their customers.
The Challenges
One of the key challenges in this migration project was related to the Shopify package the client was using, which had strict limitations on the number of API requests allowed per minute. This restriction extended the overall conversion process, requiring additional time and resources to complete the migration.
Our Solution
To overcome the mentioned challenge, we optimized the data import schedule to ensure steady progress without hitting the API limits, prioritizing accuracy and consistency. The team also built a special command to migrate unique data types like SEO URLs and ensured all information, including product and order details, was seamlessly transferred between the two platforms.
For this project, the LitExtension team executed a complete migration using the All-in-One Migration Service. By applying our skillful expertise, we have successfully migrated all default data such as products, customers, and orders.
