About Our Client
Our client is a family-run business from Europe with a long and proud tradition of making beautiful wallpapers. They have lots of different styles of wallpapers to choose from, so there’s something for everyone, whether you like classic looks or modern designs. When it comes to making their wallpapers, they use only the best materials and really know how to print them perfectly.
As their business grew, our client realized they needed a platform that could grow with them. They wanted an online store that would be easier to manage and give them more control over how they sell their products. So, they decided to move from their Shopware 6 store to WooCommerce.
Our Client’s Requirements
Besides the basic data migration (orders, customers, products, etc.), our client had the following custom requirements for the project:
- Product variant restructuring: Our client wanted their product variations – like different sizes or colors – to be set up as individual product listings on their WooCommerce store.
- Multilingual content setup: They were eager to reach a global audience, but their Shopware 6 store lacked multilingual capabilities. This limitation can be solved easily with WooCommerce, allowing them to expand into new markets.
- Custom pricing solutions: Our client needed a solution to replicate their variant-specific pricing structure on WooCommerce, as this platform handles this data differently than Shopware.
- GTIN menu migration: Although WooCommerce doesn’t have a built-in GTIN menu feature like Shopware, our client needed to ensure that this specific product data could be migrated to their new online store.
The Challenges
We ran into a problem with the app our client used to get their data out of Shopware. The way the app organized the information wasn’t quite how WooCommerce needed it. This meant our team had to spend extra time figuring out how to make the information work with WooCommerce so we could move everything over correctly.
Our Solution
For this project, we customized our All-in-One Migration service to make sure we could move our client’s online store from Shopware 6 to WooCommerce without a hitch. To start with, we modified some queries in the database to reorganize the product catalog. Hence, each product variation would appear as a distinct and independent product on their new WooCommerce store.
We then turned our attention to implementing features not supported by WooCommerce when moving from their Shopware store. This included their variant-specific pricing structure and their GTIN menu. To ensure these elements were accurately transferred, our developers created custom source code and performed careful data field mapping techniques. This requires advanced technical skills to guarantee the most seamless migration experience.
