About Our Client
Founded by two friends with a shared passion for the finest natural care products and niche perfumes, Woodberg has grown into a go-to destination for carefully curated, high-quality personal care items from around the world. With a commitment to delivering expertly-selected products, Woodberg has built a reputation for offering customers unique and luxurious experiences.
As their business evolved, they needed a more scalable, user-friendly platform to support their growing customer base, leading to the decision to migrate from Shopware 5 to Shopify.
Our Client’s Requirements
For this Shopware 5 to Shopify migration project, Woodberg required a complete transfer of their online store data, including products, customers, orders, and other core elements. In addition to the standard data migration, they had several specific requirements to ensure a seamless transition and maintain the functionality of their new Shopify store:
- Multi-language support: They needed to migrate both German and English language versions of their store to cater to their multilingual customer base.
- Custom field migration: They had 30 custom fields associated with their products on Shopware. These fields needed to be migrated accurately to Shopify to preserve important product information.
- Product review transfer: They wanted to transfer customer reviews from PrestaShop to Shopify to maintain valuable social proof and customer feedback on their new platform.
The Challenges
This migration project presented a unique challenge due to the significant amount of custom data that needed to be transferred alongside the standard data. For the custom requirements, our technical team had to dedicate additional time to customizing the migration code. The extended project timeline put the LitExtension team under higher pressure.
Our Solution
To successfully migrate the client’s store from Shopware 5 to Shopify while addressing their unique requirements, we implemented a multi-faceted approach:
- Multilanguage migration: To ensure the secure transfer of the two language versions (German and English), we leveraged a dedicated plugin. Our team first exported each store language into a separate folder, meticulously preserving the translated content. Then, we manually imported each folder into the Shopify store, guaranteeing that both language versions were accurately represented on the new platform.
- Product reviews and custom field migration: To handle the 30 custom fields and product reviews, our technical team developed custom migration source code. This tailored solution enabled us to accurately map and transfer these data elements from PrestaShop to Shopify, preserving crucial product information and valuable customer feedback.
