Drupal to Shopify Plus Migration

Our client sells high-quality, custom-printed packaging solutions to businesses of all sizes. They offer a wide range of boxes, bags, and other packaging materials designed to elevate brand presentation and create a memorable unboxing experience for customers.

After several years of using Drupal, they found it increasingly challenging to manage their website due to the technical complexity and escalating costs. Seeking a more user-friendly and affordable experience, they found Shopify Plus and decided to migrate to this platform.

In addition to migrating their core product, customer, and order data, our client had two specific requirements to enhance their Shopify Plus store’s functionality and cater to their B2B customers:

• Custom review handling: They requested a customized solution for handling product reviews during the migration. They wanted to ensure that reviews from their Drupal site were accurately transferred and displayed appropriately within their new Shopify Plus store.
• B2B catalog setup: To support their wholesale operations, they wanted to implement B2B catalogs within Shopify Plus. This would allow them to set specific pricing and quantity rules for different customer groups, providing a tailored experience for their business clients.

This migration project had a tight deadline, which meant our team had to work under more pressure than usual. Balancing speed with precision was crucial, especially when dealing with the complexities of custom review data and B2B pricing structures. Despite these challenges, we maintained our commitment to accuracy and efficiency, delivering a successful migration on time and to the client’s satisfaction.

To seamlessly migrate our client’s data and implement their desired customizations, we utilized our comprehensive All-in-One Migration service along with some tailored solutions:

With the transfer of product reviews, we first crawled their Drupal website to extract all review data. We then exported the data into a CSV file and imported it into a third-party review app compatible with Shopify Plus. This process ensured that the reviews were accurately displayed on the new platform, maintaining valuable social proof and customer feedback.

Then, for the B2B catalog procing, we converted the client’s existing B2B pricing rules from their Drupal platform into a Shopify-compatible format. We then used GraphQL, a data query language, to import the converted pricing data into Shopify Plus.
