About Our Client
Our client is a Canadian clothing brand dedicated to providing stylish and fashionable apparel and accessories exclusively for women. Their online store offers a wide selection of items, including clothing, jewelry, scarves, hats, etc. They are committed to offering high-quality products and creating a unique shopping experience for their customers.
They wanted a solution that would allow them to scale their business without being weighed down by high costs or technical complexities. Ecwid’s attractive pricing and intuitive design striked the perfect balance, enabling them to invest more resources into growing their brand.
Our Client’s Requirements
Just like any other migration projects, this client also required as to transfer all essential data: products, customers, orders, and other core elements of their eCommerce store from BigCommerce to Ecwid. Since they are signing up for our All-in-One Migration Service, they gain the full access to our Additional Options for free:
- Create the 301 redirects on Target Cart after migration;
- Preserve order IDs on Target Store;
- Strip HTML from category, product names;
- Re-migration;
- Smart Update.
In addition, they particularly emphasized the importance of accurately migrating customer accounts with multiple addresses. Many of their customers had several shipping and billing addresses associated with their profiles, and it was crucial to preserve this information to maintain a seamless customer experience and accurate order fulfillment on the new platform.
The Challenges
The client’s Ecwid account experienced an API-related problem that prevented us from accessing and transferring data to the new platform. As we were committed to delivering a complete and accurate migration, our team had to pause the process while waiting for the API problem to be fixed. This unforeseen delay extended the project timeline, thus makes our team to work under a higher pressure.
Our Solution
Because of the extended timeline, the LitExtension team have to speed up our migration process to meet the client’s deadlines. During the whole waiting time for the API issue to be resolved by Ecwid’s development team, we remained in close communication with the client, providing updates and ensuring transparency throughout the process.
Once the API issue was resolved by Ecwid’s development team, we were able to proceed with the migration, meticulously transferring all essential data (products, customers, orders) to the client’s new Ecwid store. We also made every effort to preserve order IDs, a standard feature in our All-in-One package. However, Ecwid does not support importing order numbers, so the order IDs are automatically generated by the platform and cannot be edited.
Moving on to the customers’ multi-addresses migration, we carefully mapped the relevant data fields between BigCommerce and Ecwid. We ensured that all shipping and billing addresses associated with each customer account were transferred accurately and completely to the new platform.
