#3: Perform Full PrestaShop to WordPress Migration
Let’s start the PrestaShop to WordPress. Once the process is kicked off, it will constantly run even when you turn off your browser.
Migrate from PrestaShop to WordPress with LitExtension
For those who wish to move from PrestaShop to WordPress without investing time in technical setup or data handling, LitExtension All-in-One Migration is the best solution.
Specifically, rather than handling platform differences or data risks on your own, you can rely on our experts to handle the entire migration with 100% accuracy. Let’s have a quick overview of how a PrestaShop to WordPress migration is executed here:
Step 1. Technical consultation
Every successful migration depends on a clear understanding of the store being moved.
That’s why our first step is to gather and analyze all the information about your current PrestaShop store. Once you share your requirements, we will examine how the store is structured and identify configurations that may affect the migration to WordPress, such as custom setups, extensions, PrestaShop-specific limitations, and more.
And when the migration scope and technical approach are fully defined, we will prepare a Service Level Agreement (SLA). After you review and approve the SLA, the migration is formally confirmed and scheduled.
Note: Stores that contain manually created records, third-party integrations, or non-native data may require additional handling. All related costs, if any, will be communicated before the migration begins to ensure complete transparency.
Step 2. Pre-migration preparation
The next step is preparation.
At this stage, our team will set up a solid WordPress environment to ensure it can receive data accurately and safely from PrestaShop. Core configurations are applied, and the necessary connections between the two platforms are also established to prevent conflicts during the transfer.
In addition, we also create and detail data-mapping rules to preserve accuracy. If your PrestaShop store relies on custom fields or unconventional data structures, the migration logic will be modified so that every piece of information is properly arranged once it reaches WordPress.
Step 3. Demo PrestaShop to WordPress migration
Before committing to a full data transfer, we validate the migration setup through a controlled demo. Specifically, a portion of your data will be migrated to WordPress so you can review how it functions in the new environment.
This step gives you practical insight into the results and helps confirm that the migration rules are working as intended. Only after you approve the demo results does the migration process move forward.
Note: For stores with fewer than 2,000 entities, the demo migration is optional and will only be performed upon your specific request.
Step 4. Full PrestaShop to WordPress migration
Once the demo outcome is confirmed, the migration now proceeds at full scale. Our team will manage all technical operations, including backend processes, data synchronization, and continuous monitoring.
As mentioned earlier, there’s no need for any technical involvement from you! Better yet, as part of the All-in-One service, all advanced options included in the Automated migration will be applied automatically and come at no additional cost.
Step 5. Migration result testing
After the full migration is finished, our team conducts a thorough quality assurance review.
Products, customer records, orders, and metadata are systematically checked to confirm that all data has been migrated correctly and completely. If any inconsistencies are detected, they are handled immediately to ensure your WordPress store accurately reflects your original PrestaShop setup.
Step 6. Post-migration services
Even after the main migration is completed, data changes are likely to keep occurring, especially if your PrestaShop store remains active for a period of time.
Hence, to help manage this transition smoothly, we provide post-migration services that keep both platforms aligned. They include:
- Recent Data Migration, which allows newly created data to be transferred an unlimited number of times after the completion of your migration, provided it does not exceed 5% of the original data volume.
- Remigration, which has the migration redone for you up to 2 times at no cost.
- Smart Update, which enables ongoing synchronization of changes from PrestaShop to WordPress after the migration is completed.
All of these services are also supported by 60 days of free technical assistance to ensure your store remains stable while transitioning into regular operation.
Step 7. Customer support availability
Lastly, our support does not end even when the migration is 100% complete.
In fact, LitExtension’s support team remains available to assist whenever questions or issues arise. National holidays aside, you can rely on our timely, professional assistance anytime throughout and beyond your PrestaShop to WordPress migration.
Migrate from PrestaShop to WordPress Manually
As you can see, LitExtension All-in-One is clearly the best option for a smooth, effortless, accurate migration.
Nevertheless, if your data structure is relatively simple, and/or you prefer full control over the process, then the manual route is still worth considering. Below are two different approaches, depending on your migration objectives:
Method 1: Migrate CMS content to WordPress
(if you only migrate CMS pages or article-style content from PrestaShop).
Step 1. Export CMS tables from PrestaShop
First, log in to your hosting control panel and open phpMyAdmin.
From the database list, select the database used by your PrestaShop store. In the table overview, locate the CMS-related tables, typically named ps_cms and ps_cms_lang (the table prefix may vary depending on your installation).
Select both tables, then click the Export button at the top of the screen. In the export settings, choose the Quick export method, set the format to CSV, and click Go to download the CMS data as CSV files to your local computer.

Step 2. Install WP All Import on WordPress
After preparing the CSV file, log in to your WordPress admin dashboard.
Navigate to Plugins → Add New, search for WP All Import, then click Install Now and Activate. The free version of the plugin is sufficient for importing basic pages or posts from CSV files.

Step 3. Prepare and reformat the CSV data for WordPress
Next, open the exported CSV files using Excel, Google Sheets, or another spreadsheet editor.
Since ps_cms_lang contains multilingual data, filter the rows by id_lang to keep only the language you want to migrate. At this stage, focus on the fields that are relevant to WordPress pages, such as page titles, main content, URL slugs, and SEO metadata.
In addition, you will also need to reorganize and rename columns so they match WordPress’s post structure. For example:
- CMS titles are mapped to WordPress post titles
- CMS content becomes post content
- link_rewrite values should be used as page slugs.
- Any unused or platform-specific fields can be removed to avoid import conflicts.
For further reference, you can download a sample CSV straight from WP All Import. Once the structure is cleaned up, save the file as a UTF-8 encoded CSV.
Step 4. Import CMS content into WordPress
With WP All Import activated, go to All Import → New Import in the WordPress dashboard. Then, upload the prepared CSV file and choose whether the content should be imported as posts or pages, depending on how you want your PrestaShop CMS content to appear in WordPress.

Continue through the import setup screens until you reach the field-mapping interface. Here, you assign CSV columns to WordPress fields such as title, content, and slug using the plugin’s drag-and-drop controls. If you are importing SEO metadata, you can also map custom fields for meta titles and descriptions at this stage.
Once the mappings are confirmed, run the import. WordPress will automatically create pages or posts based on the data in the CSV file.
Method 2: Migrate store data from PrestaShop to WordPress with WooCommerce
Step 1. Install WooCommerce on WordPress
First, go to Plugins → Add New, search for WooCommerce, and click Install Now → Activate. Make sure you follow the prompts to complete the WooCommerce setup wizard, including currency, tax, shipping, and payment settings.

Step 2. Export data from PrestaShop
Now, in the PrestaShop admin panel, go to Catalog → Products and click Export to download a product CSV file. You can report the same process under other types of data (e.g., Catalog → Categories, Catalog → Discounts, or Catalog → Stocks) to export them in CSV as well.

Step 3. Reformat CSV files for WooCommerce
Next, open the exported CSV files in Excel or Google Sheets. Rename and reorganize columns to match WooCommerce’s product import format, including product name, SKU, price, stock status, and category slugs.
For more information, you can edit directly from a sample WooCommerce file. It is typically named sample_products.csv or sample_products.xml, located inside the plugin directory under woocommerce/sample-data/.
Step 4. Import products into WooCommerce
Finally, on WordPress, go to WooCommerce, then choose Products → All Products → Import.

Then, upload the formatted CSV file, map each column using the dropdown selectors, and click Run the Importer.
Tips for A Successful PrestaShop to WordPress Migration
Since the two platforms organize content, URLs, and relationships very differently, any small decisions made during migration can affect SEO, usability, and maintenance long after the site goes live. Hence, you should consider the following tips to address common problem areas that are often underestimated:
1. Redesign your content hierarchy before touching the data
PrestaShop CMS pages are usually flat and loosely structured. WordPress, on the other hand, relies heavily on hierarchical relationships between pages, posts, and taxonomies. So if you migrate content without redefining this hierarchy, you will often end up with scattered pages and unclear navigation.
That’s why, before importing anything, you should map out which CMS pages should become top-level pages, which ones belong under parent pages, and whether certain content is better suited as blog posts instead of static pages. Otherwise, fixing hierarchy after migration is far more time-consuming since it often requires URL changes, menu rebuilds, and lots of internal link updates.
2. Lock down URL rules early to protect SEO equity
One of the most common mistakes in a PrestaShop to WordPress migration is assuming URLs can be “fixed later.” In reality, inconsistent URL structures are a major source of traffic loss after migration.
Instead, you need to decide on a final permalink structure in WordPress and stick to it consistently. Likewise, remember to pay attention to slug formatting, trailing slashes, and how parent pages affect URLs. If URLs change, prepare a clear redirect strategy rather than relying on WordPress defaults or manual fixes after launch.
3. Use the migration as a controlled content reduction
Lastly, keep in mind that migrating everything “as-is” from PrestaShop to WordPress often leads to bloated sites filled with outdated or low-value content. This issue is especially common with legacy CMS pages that were created for temporary campaigns or discontinued products.
So, before migration, it’s important to review your CMS pages and decide which content is still relevant. If necessary, remove outdated pages to reduce clutter in WordPress and make content management easier going forward. After all, from an SEO perspective, migrating fewer but higher-quality pages actually improves crawl efficiency and concentrates authority on content that matters the most.

I am in the process of moving my existing website over to Shopify. As this is my 4th iteration of my website, I knew I didn’t want to do the migration part myself again! Using this service meant that I could concentrate on running my business for a couple of days while the migration was being done for me.
Lotus was phenomenal! She is detailed-oriented and works extremely fast! She helped with the migration from Wix to Shopify in no time. Thank you so much Lotus and everyone at LitExtension!
It was great service from those guys! Verry complex case with very old Woocommerce to new Woocommerce store!
I built our new Shopify site myself but with no developer experience. I really struggled migrating products, customers and order history. It was a bit overwhelming until I found Lit. They helped me set it up and did the contract. Emailed me at every stage and listened to my feedback. I found them on Thursday and by Monday the work was completed.
Took most of the work off our hands. The team were great and went out of their way to get the migration from J2store to Shopify completed. The time zone differences were slightly difficult but that didn’t stop the work from being completed.
