Plan Your Adobe Commerce to Shopify Migration

Begin with the records your business needs in Shopify. List the products and categories, customer profiles, historical orders, and content you want to retain. If coupons, reviews, or translations matter to the new store, include examples during consultation so our specialists can assess them alongside the rest of your data.

Compare the Work Involved in Moving Stores

Data migration does not convert Adobe Commerce themes, integrations, or custom code into Shopify functionality. Prepare the design, apps, payments, shipping, taxes, and other operational settings separately from the records being transferred.

1. Agree on the Records and Acceptance Checks

Describe the store you have and the Shopify store you are preparing. Share product and variant examples, customer records, orders with several items, and pages or posts with images. Identify records created by integrations or custom code before the scope is agreed.

Our specialists assess the actual source data and map the selected records to their target representation. Agree on which counts, values, and relationships you will review. An acceptance list helps the team distinguish a migration discrepancy from a design or app configuration task.

2. Prepare Backups, Access, and Existing Shopify Data

Back up Adobe Commerce data and keep copies of assets and content needed for the project. Prepare Shopify and coordinate the access requested by our specialists. Keep it available through the Demo and validation.

Review existing Shopify records before approving Clear Target Data. Save a target backup and identify records that must remain, including products or content your team has already edited. The cleanup scope follows the migration entities selected for the project.

If reviews or translated content are included in the agreed work, coordinate the target review app and language setup with our team before testing. App-dependent data should be checked in the customer-facing presentation as well as in the target records.

3. Review Product and Category Mapping

Products include names, SKUs, short/full descriptions, status, regular/special prices, quantities, stock-management settings, meta titles/descriptions, weight, dimensions, tags, variants, thumbnail images, and additional images. Manufacturer is not mapped to Vendor, and standalone Attributes are not converted into metafields in this transfer.

For configurable products, bundles, grouped products, downloadable items, and custom options, explain how customers select and receive the item. Agree on a target representation rather than expecting every product type to behave identically. For products with variants, compare examples that reflect the combinations your customers buy. Review how descriptions, sale prices, inventory, images, and any custom fields appear in Shopify. Check the target theme and apps with the intended product combinations; Confirm current Shopify variant, theme, and app compatibility before agreeing on the target structure. Do not turn source attributes into metafields without agreeing on the mapping.

Category data includes names, descriptions, images, and meta titles/descriptions. Our experts configure Shopify Smart Collections using product tags. Compare product membership in the Demo, then prepare target menus separately; category sort order is not included.

4. Review Customers and Historical Orders

Customer profiles include first names, last names, and emails. Saved profile addresses, customer groups, status, creation dates, and email-marketing status are not included. Historical orders include billing and shipping addresses separately. Review sample profiles during the Demo and prepare Shopify account access separately. Adobe Commerce passwords do not become Shopify passwords. Shopify customer accounts use a one-time code sent to the customer’s email; test access using the email associated with the target profile.

Historical orders include IDs, dates, statuses, items, totals, subtotal, discounts, taxes, shipping price, customer names/emails, notes, tags, and billing/shipping addresses. Order Items and addresses remain groups without additional detail-field promises. Tracking number and URL are not included. Compare historical totals and relationships with source orders.

Our experts configure Preserve Order IDs on Shopify. Compare original references in the Demo and confirm how staff will find historical orders before preparing customer-service procedures.

5. Review Coupons, Reviews, Pages, Blogs, and Languages

Coupons include descriptions, codes, customer groups, usage limits, discount amounts/percentages, and start/end dates. Reviews include status, rating, reviewer names/emails, comments, creation dates, and titles. Review import uses a compatible Shopify app. Compare sample rules and customer-facing review presentation.

Discuss multilingual product, category, page, or blog content with the team. Inspect each language’s agreed text in the Demo. Shopify’s target fields do not by themselves recreate the source language setup or custom translation behavior.

CMS Pages include titles, URLs, and thumbnail images. Blogs include URLs, categories, and thumbnail images; blog data needs a compatible source extension. Page/blog body content, CMS authors/handles, and blog publication dates are not included. Keep required text and layouts for separate preparation. Themes, menus, integrations, and custom functionality remain separate tasks.

Plan Adobe Commerce Features Separately

Adobe Commerce B2B shared catalogs combine company access and custom pricing. Product and customer records alone do not recreate shared catalogs, company permissions, quote workflows, or approval rules. Document these requirements and select the target features and integrations before launch. Shopify B2B capabilities depend on the selected plan and setup.

Content staging schedules changes to products, categories, promotions, and pages. Identify the content version and prices intended for launch, then retain the schedule of future changes. Transferring current records does not recreate Adobe Commerce campaign history or scheduled updates.

List each website, store view, language, and currency you use. Agree on which records belong in the target and how your team will manage remaining storefronts. Language content does not recreate the entire website/store-view structure.

6. Configure the Applicable Additional Options

All applicable Additional Options are included for free with All-in-One Migration. Our experts configure redirects, original order IDs, Shopify Smart Collections, HTML cleanup for product/category names, approved target-data cleanup, and images embedded in supported product/category descriptions.

Embedded description images are separate from ordinary product images and page thumbnails. Review both in the Demo. Agree on cleanup before records are removed, and save a backup of target data that your team may need later.

Description Images covers product and category descriptions. It does not add page or blog body-content migration. Review embedded images separately from product thumbnails, additional images, and category images.

7. Review the Free Demo

Our experts run a Free Demo and share the sample results with you. Compare the agreed product fields, images, variants, category organization, and customer profiles. Check representative orders for references, values, addresses, and relationships.

Inspect any coupons, reviews, pages, blog posts, and translated content included in the Demo scope. Open target content as customers will see it to check formatting, links, and images. Record examples of unexpected results and resolve them with the team before approving Full Migration.

8. Complete Migration and Validate the Store

After Demo approval, our specialists perform and monitor Full Migration. Your Adobe Commerce store can continue serving customers during the transfer. Your Personal Assistant communicates progress and coordinates the completed-record review.

The team compares the agreed counts and representative values and investigates migration discrepancies. Track records created or changed in Adobe Commerce during the project so final updates can be planned before handover. Review the result before accepting the migration.

9. Prepare SEO, Checkout, and Launch

Review the mapped metadata and important source URLs, then test agreed redirects to Shopify destinations. Update internal links and check navigation. A transfer does not guarantee identical URL structures or unchanged search rankings.

Prepare Shopify’s design, apps, payment methods, shipping, taxes, notifications, customer access, and checkout separately. Test browsing, variant selection, cart actions, account access, and checkout on desktop and mobile before directing customers to the new store.
