by Mia Nguyen
Jun, 2025
in Ecommerce Platforms, Wix

The comparison between Wix vs GoDaddy is widely sought after because these are two of the most popular website builders in the market. Despite being fantastic platforms, Wix and GoDaddy are, in fact, vastly different.

In this article, we'll break down all the differences of these platforms by comparing them on the following dimensions:

  • Pricing
  • Ease of use
  • Design & customization
  • Apps & plugins
  • eCommerce features
  • SEO features
  • Marketing functions
  • Support

Stay tuned!

Wix vs GoDaddy – Our Quick Verdict

When comparing Wix vs GoDaddy, we discovered that both platforms aim to make website building easier. However, they follow different paths to achieve that goal. Wix provides users with more control, more features, and stronger creative tools. In contrast, GoDaddy focuses on speed and simplicity, helping beginners get online with minimal effort.

We believe Wix is better for those who want to fully customize their site with the large template library and the flexibility in adjusting every design element. Wix also impressed us with its strong app ecosystem and advanced eCommerce tools.

However, we also see the value in GoDaddy. We found it to be extremely easy to use, with a clean interface and fast setup process. If you need a basic site fast, GoDaddy works well, especially for users who want fewer decisions and a streamlined experience.

Below, we'll break down all the differences between Wix vs GoDaddy to help you better understand these platforms and determine which one works best for you.

#1. Pricing – GoDaddy Wins

The verdict:

While Wix offers more features at the higher end, GoDaddy wins on pricing thanks to its lower entry-level costs, simpler pricing structure, and value-packed plans.

Wix pricing

Firstly, Wix offers a forever-free plan, which is great for trying out Wix or for personal use with an aesthetic portfolio.

For the premium plans, Wix pricing is subscription-based and ranges from $17 to $169 per month. This website builder provides a significantly more robust set of features and capabilities for a higher price point.

Here's the breakdown:

  • Light – For basic website: $17/month
  • Core – For more audience engagement: $29/month
  • Business – For a business growing: $36/month
  • Business Elite – For business scaling: $159/month

If your main focus is on eCommerce, you will need to choose the Core plan or above, which grants you eCommerce functions and accepts payments.

GoDaddy pricing

GoDaddy offers three pricing plans, ranging from $7.99 – $20.99/month. If you have a long-term business plan, you could save up to 41% by registering for the annual plan.

  • Manage WordPress: $7.99/month
  • GoDaddy website builder: $9.99/month
  • Manage WordPress eCommerce hosting: $20.99/month

All of GoDaddy’s plans include an AI-power tool called GoDaddy Insight, which uses data to provide you with constant advice on how you can keep improving your online presence.

However, if you are an online store owner, the one and only package suitable is GoDaddy eCommerce pricing. It includes several features, including:

  • Add and edit product listings
  • Sell products directly through your online store
  • Sell on marketplaces like Amazon and Etsy

#2. Ease of Use – GoDaddy Wins

The verdict:

We think GoDaddy wins in ease of use because it provides a smoother, more guided experience from start to finish. It’s ideal for beginners who don’t want to worry about design details or learning a complex editor.

Wix ease of use

Generally, Wix has a highly intuitive drag-and-drop editor that allows users to easily add and customize elements on the page without any coding knowledge. The interface is also very user-friendly and visual.

wix ai for sections
Using Wix editor

Furthermore, Wix provides a lot of guidance and assistance for beginners, including an AI-powered “Quick Help” button, a search function to find features, and a “Help Center” with tutorials.

However, once we switched to the full editor, we noticed that it can feel overwhelming. There are lots of menus, tools, and options. While this offers deeper control, it might slow down new users at the beginning. We appreciated the flexibility but found that it takes a bit more time to get comfortable with everything Wix has to offer.

GoDaddy ease of use

GoDaddy focuses on speed and simplicity. During our test, we set up a basic site in just a few minutes. The interface is clean and clear, and the site builder walks you through each step. It’s very easy to use, even for someone who’s never built a site before.

However, this ease comes with limits. You can’t move things freely on the page like you can with Wix. Customization options are more restricted, and the templates feel more structured. Still, for users who just want a working website quickly, GoDaddy makes the process fast and stress-free.

#3. Design & Customizations – Wix Wins

The verdict:

Wix clearly wins in design and customization. It provides far more templates, deeper design control, and the ability to fine-tune nearly every aspect of your website. Whether you’re a designer or just want your site to stand out, Wix gives you the freedom to create something unique.

Wix design & customizations

Wix gives you a ton of ways to make your website look awesome! You can choose from over 900 different designs that match your style or what your website is about. It's like picking the perfect outfit – you can try them on before you decide!

wix templates
Wix templates

Once you've picked your design, it's super easy to change it up. You can move things around just like you would in PowerPoint. Click and drag anything you want to a new spot! Evenmore, Wix also has its own ADI (Artificial Design Intelligence) tool, but it's not as powerful as the main editor. If you're looking for complete control over your design, the main Wix editor is the way to go.

What if you want to change the colors or make the pictures bigger? You can do that too! Wix gives you lots of control to make every part of your website look exactly how you want it. Wix is perfect for people who want a unique and eye-catching website.

GoDaddy design & customizations

GoDaddy offers a smaller selection of templates, but they are still modern and mobile-ready. The GoDaddy editor is super simple to use. You can change the look of your website with different themes and personalize things like the text, images, and buttons. It's not as flexible as Wix, but it gets the job done quickly and easily.

GoDaddy AI
GoDaddy AI

GoDaddy also uses ADI to make building your website a breeze. You just answer a few questions about your business, and GoDaddy's ADI creates a website tailored to your needs. This is perfect if you want a website up and running fast without having to worry about the design details.

It’s important to note that Wix also has an ADI product – Wix ADI. This works in a similar way to GoDaddy, but you don’t get the same level of editing control you do with Wix’s main editor. In short, Wix is for control, while GoDaddy is for efficiency.

#4. Apps & Plugins – Wix Wins

The verdict:

Wix wins the apps and plugins category by a large margin. Its dedicated App Market, wide range of integrations, and user-friendly installation process make it the better platform for users who want to grow their site’s functionality over time.

Wix apps

Wix has over 500 apps, both made by Wix and third parties. The apps are distributed into content-based and eCommerce-based categories. Most apps are free or have a lite version. Others require monthly payments and vary in price. Despite a limited collection of apps, they cover the most commonly inquired features.

Wix App Store
Wix App Store

Notably, Wix has checked all apps for compatibility, so you can be confident they will be well integrated. Nonetheless, Wix doesn’t provide a good solution for everything. While Wix offers a feature for a multilingual webpage, it’s not SEO-friendly and is bulky to use.

GoDaddy apps

GoDaddy doesn't have an app market like Wix, but it does have its website builder and hosting package, formerly known as GoCentral, which has been rebranded as Websites + Marketing. This package offers an all-in-one solution for building and managing a website, including eCommerce capabilities.

Especially, GoDaddy InSight is a data-driven tool that provides insights and recommendations based on your business type and goals. It helps you focus on activities that can have the most positive impact on your business.

Moreover, with the launch of market selling, GoDaddy eCommerce allows you to sell products across top marketplaces – Amazon, eBay, Etsy, Walmart, Jet, and more.

#5. eCommerce Features – Wix Wins

The verdict:

Wix wins when it comes to eCommerce features. It supports a wider range of products, offers more advanced selling tools, and integrates with third-party services like dropshipping and subscription billing.

Wix eCommerce features

Wix offers a full suite of eCommerce tools under its Business & eCommerce plans, allowing users to create and manage an online store with ease. We were able to:

  • Sell physical, digital, or subscription-based products
  • Offer multiple payment methods like Stripe, PayPal, and Wix Payments
  • Set up product variants, manage inventory, and apply discounts
  • Enable abandoned cart recovery, tax settings, and shipping rules
  • Use dropshipping integrations via apps like Modalyst and Printful

Wix also includes powerful visual product pages and lets you customize your checkout flow. If needed, you can extend store functionality through its App Market or developer tools. We appreciated the level of control Wix provides, not just for product listings, but for the full customer journey.

GoDaddy eCommerce features

GoDaddy’s eCommerce plan allows users to launch an online store quickly, and the setup process is simple. We were able to:

  • List physical and digital products
  • Accept payments through major gateways like PayPal and Square
  • Manage basic inventory and order tracking
  • Offer shipping and local pickup options

However, GoDaddy lacks several advanced features we saw in Wix. It does not support product subscriptions, abandoned cart recovery, or detailed checkout customization. It also doesn’t offer as many integrations for things like dropshipping or third-party fulfillment.

Still, for a small store with simple needs, GoDaddy can get you selling fast.

#6. SEO – Wix Wins

The verdict:

Wix wins the SEO features category thanks to its mix of beginner guidance and powerful tools. From editable metadata to advanced schema support, Wix offers everything needed for strong search performance.

Wix SEO

Wix has a special tool called SEO Wiz that helps you optimize your website for search engines. It's like a helpful guide that tells you what to do to make your store more visible. You can also track how well your website is doing in search results and use other apps to help you improve.

If you pay for a Wix plan, you can even connect your website to Google Analytics, which gives you even more information about who is visiting your store and how they found it.

Wix also has many built-in features to help with SEO, such as making sure your website loads quickly on phones and tablets, using the right website structure, and telling search engines which pages are most important.

Users can edit meta tags, URLs, keywords, anchor links, heading tags, alt text, and more. Additionally, the platform includes various built-in SEO features, including instant Google indexing, Google Analytics integration, structured data, XML sitemap support, Robots.txt file management, and Canonical URLs.

GoDaddy SEO

When it comes to GoDaddy seo review, GoDaddy has a more robust built-in SEO toolkit. It includes features like keyword suggestions, on-page optimization analysis, and a sitemap generator.

GoDaddy's tool also offers a more comprehensive analysis of your website's SEO performance, including technical aspects like page speed and mobile responsiveness. This can be valuable for identifying and fixing issues that might be hindering your search engine rankings.

For those who are new to SEO, GoDaddy's SEO Wizard is a user-friendly tool designed to help website owners improve their website's search engine optimization without needing extensive technical knowledge. The wizard analyzes your website, gives you easy-to-follow suggestions, and explains how each change can help you rank higher in search results.

GoDaddy just beats Wix for SEO. The latter has a few SEO-specific apps, whereas the former has more built-in SEO tools. From editing meta descriptions and URL slugs to getting keyword suggestions and submitting a sitemap, everything you need to rank high on Google is readily available to you.

#7. Marketing – Wix Wins

Quick verdict:

Wix has much better features than GoDaddy. Though GoDaddy has a couple of useful features, such as abandoned cart recovery and built-in email marketing, overall, Wix offers more quality features and a much bigger range to choose from in its app market.

Blogging

Wix has a bit more going for it when it comes to creating a blog. Wix’s blogging platform offers many of the features you’d expect, such as using categories and tags, scheduling your posts, and adding videos and images.

GoDaddy offers a custom dashboard and the opportunity to add a blog to your website. You can quickly post new content to engage visitors with eye-catching photos, tasty recipes, or industry insights. So, while GoDaddy doesn’t have the most feature-rich blogging platform out there, it will definitely work for basic blogging, such as a simple mommy blog.

Email Marketing

With Wix, you can create an email account specific to your domain using G Suite. It also has integrated marketing tools like Wix ShoutOut, which help you send beautiful marketing emails and newsletters and share updates on social media (more on that later). You can also capture email addresses to help widen your audience.

GoDaddy’s email features are totally built-in. It also has its own email marketing service, but that does come at an additional cost on top of the monthly fee you pay.

Social Media Integration

With Wix, you can easily add social media buttons and feeds to your site. Again, it’s just a matter of dragging and dropping. In terms of social integration, the one place where Wix falls very short is when it comes to selling. You can’t use Wix to sell across multiple social channels, such as Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest.

GoDaddy, on the other hand, is limited to just adding social buttons that link to your pages. There is currently no way to embed live social feeds.

Analytics

Tracking your site’s visitors is a great way to monitor how it’s performing. You can check on things like page views, visitor counts and bounce rate. With Wix, you have the choice of either using Google Analytics or adding the Visitor Analytics app to your site. With GoDaddy, your only option is to add Google Analytics.

#8. Support – Wix Wins

Quick verdict:

Wix wins the support category with its combination of responsive live chat, phone support, and a rich help center packed with tutorials and guides. The availability of priority support, a smarter AI assistant, and a better self-service experience makes it easier for users to find help quickly.

Wix support

Wix offers email and phone support Monday-Thursday from 5 am-5 pm. Its Help Center is an online resource where you can search for guides and tutorials. Think of it a bit like an only search engine – you type in a query, and a list of search results will pop up that will be able to help you.

Wix Support
Wix Support

At every step of your website-building journey, you’ll see a help button linking to a specific guide for that particular tool. There are video tutorials galore, as well as a community forum where you can get help and advice from other users. Just hover your mouse over the editor’s question marks and wait for the small bubbles to appear. They can rapidly give answers to your common questions.

GoDaddy support

You’ll find various support channels like phone support and live chat, along with their existing knowledge base and community forum. GoDaddy offers 24/7 phone support, or you can live chat with a GoDaddy expert all day on weekdays. GoDaddy also has a How-To section, unlike any other website builder I’ve seen.

Wix vs GoDaddy – FAQs

Can I transfer my domain from GoDaddy to Wix?

Yes, you can transfer your domain from GoDaddy to Wix. Wix allows users to move domains from other registrars, including GoDaddy. You’ll need to unlock the domain in your GoDaddy account and get the authorization code. Then, in your Wix dashboard, you can start the transfer process. The full transfer usually takes a few days to complete.

Is GoDaddy better or Wix?

It depends on what you need. We think Wix is better for users who want more control, more design choices, and deeper features. On the other hand, GoDaddy is better for those who want to create a website quickly with less setup. Both platforms are good, but Wix wins in most areas like customization, SEO, and eCommerce.

Why is GoDaddy more expensive?

GoDaddy may seem more expensive because some features are sold separately. For example, tools like SEO optimization or email marketing might cost extra. Also, its renewal prices are often higher than its starting offers. While its basic plans are affordable, the added costs can add up over time.

Who should use Wix?

Wix is a great choice for anyone who wants full creative control over their website. It works well for business owners, bloggers, online store managers, and anyone who wants a professional-looking site with lots of features. If you enjoy customizing things or need advanced tools, Wix is the better fit.

Wix vs GoDaddy – Which is Better?

Wix or GoDaddy is powerful enough to offer website builders and eCommerce features. However, nothing is perfect, and each platform has several limitations.

GoDaddy is optimal for creating your eCommerce store as it’s a website up fast with a small-scale store. Especially if you are a newbie or don’t have a technical support team. However, compared to GoDaddy, Wix is more well-rounded. It gives you more creative control, more features, and more ways to get help.

Therefore, we hope that you will find a suitable home after reading this comprehensive Wix vs. GoDaddy comparison.
