{"id":6691,"date":"2024-07-09T03:37:05","date_gmt":"2024-07-09T03:37:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/litextension.com\/faq\/docs\/shopping-cart-questions\/shopify\/why-is-there-a-numeric-string-added-to-my-collection-after-the-shopify-migration\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T03:50:18","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T03:50:18","slug":"why-is-there-a-numeric-string-added-to-my-collection-after-the-shopify-migration","status":"publish","type":"docs","link":"https:\/\/litextension.com\/faq\/docs\/shopping-cart-questions\/shopify\/why-is-there-a-numeric-string-added-to-my-collection-after-the-shopify-migration\/","title":{"rendered":"Why is there a numeric string added to my collection after the Shopify migration?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When source categories are migrated as Shopify automated collections, our LitExtension experts use matching product tags and collection conditions to assign products correctly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example, your source store may contain two categories with the same name:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Eyeglasses<\/strong> (Category ID 12) contains Product A.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Eyeglasses<\/strong> (Category ID 35) contains Product B.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If both Shopify collections used only the tag <strong>Eyeglasses<\/strong>, Products A and B could appear in both collections. To keep them separate, we may create identifiers such as <strong>Eyeglasses-12<\/strong> and <strong>Eyeglasses-35<\/strong>, then assign the corresponding tags to their products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The numeric string is therefore intentional and helps preserve the original category-product relationships.
