However, <strong>passwords cannot be migrated<\/strong> because of Shopify\u2019s encryption and security policies. This means all migrated customer accounts will appear as <strong>\u201cdeactivated\u201d<\/strong> in your Shopify admin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To help your customers access their accounts again, you can manage this in <strong>Settings<\/strong> \u2192 <strong>Customer<\/strong> <strong>accounts<\/strong> in your Shopify admin. Legacy accounts<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Choose this if you want to manually send account activation emails and let customers log in with their <strong>email and password<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to <strong>Customers<\/strong> in your Shopify admin.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the customers you\u2019d like to re-engage.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>More actions \u2192 Send account invite<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your customers will receive an email to activate their account and set a new password.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For large customer lists, you can use <strong>Shopify\u2019s bulk invite feature<\/strong> or a third-party app like <strong>Bulk Account Invite Sender<\/strong> to send invitations to all customers at once. (<a href=\"https:\/\/help.shopify.com\/en\/manual\/customers\/customer-accounts\/legacy-customer-accounts#inviting-customer-to-create-accounts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Shopify&#8217;s guide here<\/a>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2. New &#8220;Customer accounts<\/strong>&#8220;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This option provides a passwordless login experience. Customers can log in using a <strong>one-time, 6-digit code<\/strong> sent to their email, or through the Shop app if they have one.
