Magento Extensions Installation Guide

This covers general installation steps for All Magento Extensions and Migration Tools. Please follow these steps:

1. After purchasing an extension, please go to My downloadable products, choose the appropriate version of the extension you need to download. The file that you download is normally a zip file.

2. Check to see if Magento’s Compilation mode has been enabled. If it has, it’s vital to turn it off before installing an extension or making any code changes (go to System > Tools > Compilation).

3. It’s also required to enable Cache in the administration panel of your site. Go to System/Cache Management. Choose all caches and take action “Enable” then submit.

4. Use upload file by ftp or uploaded directly to upload or copy all folders in the zip package to your Magento site root folder. This will not overwrite any existing files, just add new files to the folder structure.

Note: In the package, we put our template and skin files in /app/design/frontend/default/default and /skin/frontend/default/default folders. If you are using a custom theme, you would very likely have your files in a different place, the most common are:

/app/design/frontend/your_theme/default and /skin/frontend/your_theme/default

/app/design/frontend/default/your_theme and /skin/frontend/default/your_theme

If this is the case, please make sure to move our template and skin files into your corresponding folders.

5. Log into your Magento admin console and go to System/Cache Management. Select all caches and take action “Refresh” then submit.

6. If you are using Magento’s compilation mode, you need to hit the “Run Compilation Process” button to update the compiled state with the newly installed extension (go to System > Tools > Compilation).

7. Navigate to System/Configuration, if you can see the extension tab, it is installed properly.

8. Now if you get Access denied error when click on the extension tab, you need to log out admin panel and log in again ( this is a normal behavior of Magento ).
